Round 11 of the Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series took place at the Margaret River skatepark. There was a good turnout of competitors and spectator for afternoon competition, it was good to see many people sitting around the outside of the skatepark on chairs enjoying the competition. Margaret River has always had a good skateboard turnout and this time it was no different. With great number in the beginners, intermediate and open skateboard class it was good to see some awesome skating going down. A few competitors traveled down to Margaret River from Perth to compete, it’s good to see they are following the series around. There were also a few competitors from other south west town who also came to compete. Seeing familiar faces is always good as well as new faces who were there to roll out the rad. At all of the Freestyle Now skatepark competitions there are three classes for competitors to enter, beginners (younger and still learning), intermediates (competitors with some good skills) and the open class (consistent and dials tricks) in the three disciplines scooter, skateboard and bmx. There is also a girls class to help encourage more girls to enter. A big thank you to all the competitors who rolled out the rad at the Margaret River skatepark competition. We would like to thank the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and the Margaret River YAC as well as our supporters, Local BMXColony bmxSacrifice scootersEthereal Clothing and 4 skateboard Co
Work has begun on having the Margaret River skatepark extended. The plans were on show at the competition and it looks like a great new plan. Maybe the next competition will be at the new extended skatepark.

Clockwise from top left – Jiordan Giacoppo cam down from Perth and smashed the skatepark to bits with his level of scooter riding skills for the 1st place in scooter open class – Sunny Cooke is one of them skaters that just shreds the gnar and flows around effortless, 1st place in skateboard open – John Graham wins bmx again in Margaret River, big down whip for the 1st in BMX open – At all Freestyle Now competition there is a girl class to help encourage more girls to participate, in Margaret River Armani More was the only girl but that is enough to run a girls only class. It was awesome to see her skating and being proactive with some radness.
