Lot 208 youth bmx skate and scooter coaching workshops

On Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th of January Freestyle Now hosted two skateboard, scooter and bmx coaching workshops for Lot 208 youth at the Australind and Harvey skateparks. Australind was on the Monday with a good turnout of skatepark users to enjoy a morning of learning new tricks. The push for a new skatepark at Australind was also promoted on this day as well which is good to see as Australind is long overdue for a new facility. On the Tuesday it was time to rock it out at the Harvey skatepark. The locals had the morning to get some great trick tips during the coaching workshop. All the participants during the workshop went away smiling at the end of the workshops. Either they received product from Stowaway distribution, 4 skateboard co and Mutts scooters or just the fact that they learnt new tricks and skills that they had otherwise not had the chance to learn.

Andy Fortini bike update

Freestyle Now squad member Andy Fortini recently built up a new frame and is enjoying the holidays in only a way a super pumped bmx could.

“Hey all, here is some photos of my new bike. It’s running real good. Super pumped on the new frame, feels nice and big and super stiff and strong. Since I finished uni for the year I’ve just been chilling and riding. I’m making a full length video so I’ve been doing a lot of filming with a bunch of different people. Got some really rad stuff already so it looking pretty good. Apart from that I’ve just been trying to organize things for a trip to India I’m going on at the end of February. Can’t wait to go, I get super excited about exploring new places and India looks amazing.”

Have a look at Andy’s profile page to view the specs of his new bike build.

Perth Royal show thru the eyes and lens of Andy Fortini

Freestyle now squad member Andy Fortini is not only a rad rider but also a rad photographer. During the Perth Royal show when the Freestyle Now bmx stunt squad were ripping up with some bmx show performances Andy was taking some photos and memories. He has sent in some of his highlights to share.

Scoring free licorice and candy from the cute South African girls on a daily basis.
Getting to hang out and ride with Brad Mas for a week straight. That dude is so rad and it suck he works away and can only hang out every month or so.
Painting my bike to look like a shark attack.
Screwing Dylan’s helmet to a chair and taping his bike up.
Watching Wazza, Dylan, and Mike Bayzand kill the box jump every day.
Not crashing into horse shit.
Tim’s suicide no hander one footers to one footer x-up.
Jarvy’s jokes. They have gotten so bad they have transcended from dad jokes to grandpa jokes.
Wormz heckling teenagers who would yell dumb shit from the top of the pits.
Crowds of kids who were way more stoked on BMX the FMX (well some of them at least).
Crazy, brain melting 3D fireworks.
Getting rowdy at the after party with all the fellas.

All in all it was a rad experience. Hopefully we can do it all again next year. Big thanks to Freestyle Now and the Perth Royal show for giving me the opportunity to ride my bike in front of a bunch of people and get paid for it.

Day seven of the Perth Royal show was so awesome. The Freestyle Now bmx stunt squad really dropped all the hammers during both the day and night shows as well as some mid demo street sessions. The lunch time show was just full of banger tricks that went down a treat for the crowds. Between the lunch and night show some of the crew went off to hit some streets for a bit more of a session. Then come the night time show the crowds at the show were massive and with that they were so loud. The guys from team FMX punched out some great motocross madness while the 15 rider strong crew from Freestyle Now hit some of the best tricks and some great all in rider trains over the jumps. The Friday night show can only be described with one word, Radabonzical.

Clockwise from top left – Andy Fortini set the table nice and flat – Kie Ashworth with his super hero impersonation – Michael Bayzand hits nothing in the air – David Pinelli somehow dips his 360 so much it’s hard to work out how they spin.

Clockwise from top left – Tim Rose with a flatty 360 – Bryn Weinman can turndown a date to graduation as well as his bike – Laurance Bakewell can flair anything – Kie Ashworth large kicker 360.
