Round 1 Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series – Kalgoorlie

The sun was shining bright on the afternoon when round 1 in the new series of the Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series kicked off at the Kalgoorlie skatepark. The skateboard, scooter and bmx competition had a good turnout of competitors from the goldfields area, all willing to partake in a good fun afternoon.
It was great to see Blake Hick who had won the 2011 F.N.W.A.S.S. scooter title had moved up to bmx and  took all of his scooter skills with him. With two of Kalgoorlie heavy hitters away, Corey Smithies and Sam Pearce, the annihilation of the bmx class was left up to Sam’s brother Blake Pearce, it must run in the blood as Blake kicked it large and took the win.
Two French skaters are traveling around Australia and had only just begun their journey in Perth and Kalgoorlie was their first stop. Both Cyril and Jonathon are shredders and good dudes and we wish them a safe expedition around Australia. Young skater Josh Castle has moved up on the skill scale and is now rocking some fresh tricks, it’s good to see. Josh was given the award for bestest duder on the day with a $100 voucher from new local business Karpar House.
As usual all the competitors threw down some great runs during the afternoon, and at the end as the sun was setting prizes were given out thanks to Stowaway distribution, 4 skateboard co and Mutts scooters. A big thank you to the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder for supporting the competition.

Tuggeranong skatepark bmx skateboard scooter competition

The Tuggeranong skatepark in Canberra had some awesome activity happening on Sunday the 27th November. Freestyle Now headed to the nation’s capital to bring some of the competition action to the locals of the area. In the morning the scooters had their time to shine and bust out. It was a close battle for points in the expert class between Tom Eager and Lachlan Henshaw but it was Lachlan who took out the win, but only just. The skaters has a small jam session go down with some great upcoming skills being showen, congrats to Mikey Philavanh on the win. In the Afternoon the bmx riders took over and it was just flat out total fun. The look on Ben McMillan’s face when he found out he had taken out the win in the beginner class was priceless. He’s a rad dude who has the skill to go afar. In the expert class it was Mike Ross who was punching out some mean stunts and rightly so to as stunts should not be mean so he taught them a good lesson. Arthur Zezz tried to attack the mean stunts but was defeated, only just thou. Team Jack (Gruber & Hillman) brought some good vibes to the comp. Jack 1 and Jack 2, are two fun dudes who are great to hang with and have embraced the fun essence of bmx. A 3rd and 4th respectively to them.

A big thanks to the Tuggeranong youth center for their support. Scrollz Play photography for the photos from the day. We also need to give a shout out to 4 skateboard Co and Mutts scooters for the supply of the products for prizes as well as the bmx hub of Canberra Back Bone Bmx for their support.

Narrogin RevHeads bmx dirt competition

The recent bmx dirt competition that took place at Narrogin RevHeads on the 19th of November saw some gnarly riding go down. The dirt competition was part of the Narrogin RevHeads event, full of cars big and loud, FMX competition, burn out comps and bikini babes. The bmx dirt jumps were put together by Daniel Christianson over a week, that dude need to be given mad props for smashing the jumps together in the way he did. Unfortunately for DC he came a gutsa in a big way and took a compound fracture to his finger, not a pretty sight but like a true champion he is he went to hospital and came back again to watch. With the comp under way to the smell of burnt rubber riders hit the jumps and smashed out some radness. When the dust and rubber smoke had cleared it was Lewis Nolan who took the win. Scope out some of the photos and go build some dirt jumps of your own in preparation for 2012 Revheads.
