Geraldton FNWASS road trip

Freestyle Now squad members Shaun Jarvis and reserves member Matt Reilly took the trek to Geraldton for host round 8 of the FNWASS. Along for the ride was good friend Brad Beven, who was a Geraldton local for many years. Shaun Jarvis gives us the lowdown of the trip so read on,

When we picked up Brad in the morning and he swiftly laid down an awesome road trip rule. Anytime someone says the word “MINE” its ten pushups. By the end of the trip I think we all had at least over 100 pushups each, no matter where we were you did them, at the petrol station, at the comp, side of the road, street riding, restaurant, anywhere they were done. The fun was also the ways that you would trick the others or get tricked into saying “MINE”. Try it next time you go on a road trip as it just adds so much more to the fun that’s already going on.

We took the new coastal road and stopped at Jurien Bay first to see what skatepark the town had to offer. The park there was so much fun. If it was a street spot you would be stoked but as a council skatepark it defiantly is questionable. Nevertheless fun was had and it was worth the stop. Next town was Leeman. It has a sick halfpipe, so sick it needs a lot of medication to make it better. A short ride was had but not much fun. Arriving in Geraldton we checked into the PCYC where we were to camp out for the weekend. Jill at the PCYC is awesome and much thanks to her for letting us bunk down there. Gym mats and trampolines in the same sentence, I’m sure you can work that one out.

The comp was great and the competitors in Geraldton are really starting to push their riding. Come Sunday after a session at the Wanthella Skatepark it was out to see what the streets of Geraldton had to offer before the tip back to Perth. As I’ve seen on past trips there are a lot of awesome things to hit up. More pushups were done and spots were hit with some radness.

The journey home was great with again more pushups at service stations and onlookers looking bewildered. Thanks to Andy, Matt and Brad for making the trip as much fun as it was. Props to the Geraldton riders for coming out on Sunday and to Jill at the PCYC. See you again soon Geraldton.
