Freestyle Now first visited Kalgoorlie back in 2002 for some bmx stunt shows. Back then the Kalgoorlie skatepark had only just been finished. Now just over 10 years later it was time for an upgrade. Unlike most councils the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder built an extension of the park to surpass all others. With a large new street plaza and mad bowls the Kalgoorlie park is now without a doubt the best in Western Australia.
This weekend, Saturday 13th July, round 12 of the Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series hit Kalgoorlie. The skatepark competition will be straight up mad. With such a large park the styles and tricks will be off the hook. This will be the first event held on the new skatepark with the mayor doing the official opening on the day at 10:45. Competitors can enter into either beginners or advanced division in the three categories, skateboard, scooter and bmx with all advance riders earning points for the Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series year end title, this round in Kalgoorlie will also be a special double point round. The competition is supported by the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder and our supporters, Stowaway distribution, Sacrifice scooters and 4 skateboard Co. Registrations start at 10am with the competition kicking at about 11am. You can download an entry form here.
On the Friday 12th July Freestyle Now will be hosting a skatepark coaching workshop at the Kalgoorlie skatepark. Starting at 10am with four 1 hours sessions during the day.
