Freestyle Now recently hosted a BMX flatland competition at Rampfest, held during the Australian BMX Freestyle Skatepark National Championships in February 2024. Although the turnout was small, the competition had a vibrant international flair, with riders from Spain and Indonesia joining in on the action. It was a great opportunity to showcase flatland BMX to many park riders, a discipline that often flies under the radar but is packed with creativity and technical skill. The competition format followed a battle round system, with riders first participating in a qualifying round that determined their order in the finals. Despite the smaller numbers, the energy was high, and the riders brought their best tricks and combos to the floor. Taking first place was Spain’s Gonzalo Belianti, whose smooth style and innovative tricks left the judges and crowd in awe. Fellow Spaniard, Inigo, claimed second place with an equally impressive performance. Australia’s Grant Cruse took home third, putting in a solid effort throughout the competition. Indonesian riders Bagus and Lukman made their mark as well, finishing in fourth and sixth, respectively. Freestyle Now’s own Shaun Jarvis rounded out the competition in fifth place, bringing his years of experience and unique flow to the Rampfest crowd.

A massive thank you to all the riders for competing and helping to bring flatland BMX into the spotlight. Though the turnout may have been small, the passion and skill on display were undeniable. We hope to see even more riders taking part in future events, and we look forward to pushing the flatland scene even further. Stay tuned for more action from Freestyle Now!
