Bibra Lake Skatepark Shines for Round 2 of the South Metro Ride and Roll Series

Despite a rainy start to the day, Bibra Lake Skatepark came alive as the clouds cleared just in time for the second round of the South Metro Ride and Roll Series. It was awesome to see so many familiar faces from Round 1 at Singleton returning for more action, with great energy from both competitors and the crowd. Huge thanks to the City of Cockburn for their support in making this series happen and helping build such a rad community atmosphere. The top three in each division from today’s comp are now headed to the finals at Spearwood Skatepark!

In the Scooter divisions, we saw plenty of talent on display. Serial competitor who we saw at the first round of the series, Thomas Hollingworth, took the win in the Beginner class, but not without a fight by Archie Edwards who came in second, Trey Dixon followed closely in third. In the Intermediate category, Judd Morrison grabbed first place, it’s awesome to see him back at our competitions and the level of riding from this guy is incredible. Luke Matthews and Jonathan Maiwald coming in second and third. The Open division kept the excitement rolling, with Dylan Mestrovich claiming the top spot, Tristan Sinclair taking second, and Brandon Black rounding out the top three.

Clockwise from top left – Logan Knibbs really making use of the taco, getting some height. – Miles Harding tail sliding down the A frame. – Judd Morisson riding with ease. – Opal Harrington airing with confidence. Find the full album of photos on our facebook page here

Over in the Skateboard divisions, the Beginner skaters brought their A-game, with Davie Howes taking first place which is a huge jump from the sixth place he received at Round 1, Scarlett Harrington landing in second and getting better every competition, and Jayden Purser snagging third. The Intermediate division saw Henrii Bennell take first, followed by George McNeilly in second. In the Open division, Miles Harding took home the win, perhaps because he was riding on home turf, he looked very comfortable throwing down tricks at Bibra Lake. Tyler Rodden and Dan Alexandar finished close behind in second and third.

The BMX riders showed up strong, too. In the Beginner division, Thomas Hollingworth scored his second first-place finish of the day, with Arthur Pearce coming in second and Logan Knibbs came in third, Logan’s run was full steam ahead, he did not miss a beat, although all his wheels stayed on the ground he really showed us how confident he is on the BMX. Jacob Roughton claimed the top spot in the Intermediate division, followed by Archie Welten in second and Liam Rhodes in third. The open division was a little short, but that didn’t stop Joshua O’neil from putting on a show and taking out the top spot.

With just two rounds left before the finals, the anticipation is building. A massive congrats to everyone who competed and made the day so memorable at Bibra Lake! We’re stoked to see what the next round brings as we get closer to the showdown at Spearwood Skatepark.
