Freestyle Now delivered another great skatepark competition at the Singleton Skatepark. This marks the first round of the South Metro Ride and Roll Series. It was a wicked day in the spring sun! Under bright blue skies, riders competed in BMX, scooter, and skateboard divisions, bringing energy and excitement. A huge shoutout to the City of Rockingham, Kwinana, Cockburn, and Mandurah for coming together to make this series possible. Their support is helping to build a stronger, more connected action sports community in WA’s south metro area!
Clockwise from top left – Cruz Evans gaining huge air timeover the popular hip right infront of the judges , Braedyn Petrie with a text book turn down, Isaac Carey hitting a bri flip over the hip, Opal Harrington showing us how its done, keeping it nice and steady all the way down the stair set. We kicked off the day with Scooter Beginner, Tyson Kolk impressed everyone and claimed the top spot, while Thomas Hollingworth and James Deyonker battled it out to grab second and third. Great rides from these up-and-coming young talents! In Scooter Intermediate division, Luke Matthews put on an awesome show to take first place. Close behind, Kodi Weston and Isaac Carey pushed their limits, landing in second and third and keeping the competition tight. Scooter Open saw Riley Bosma shine, throwing down smooth tricks to take first place. Brandon Black followed with a solid run, locking in second place and keeping the crowd hyped.
In Skateboard Beginner, Kasper Godfrey took control with a winning performance, while Onyx Black and Scarlett Harrington skated hard to secure second and third. The young talent on display was inspiring to watch! Skateboard Open turned into an Evans family affair as Cruz, Vai, and Zen snagged the top three spots. Cruz led the pack with a stellar first-place run, followed by Vai in second and Zen in third. Their family synergy and impressive skills brought an extra level of excitement to the day! Special Mention to 4th place getter, Tayah Payne, we hope to see Tayah at one of our other qualifying rounds for redemption.
For the BMX Beginners, Thomas Hollingworth rode his heart out to take first place, with Jake Jorgensen close behind in second. Ilay Godfrey rounded out the podium with a fantastic third-place finish. And in BMX Intermediate, Braedyn Petrie crushed it with a winning run that earned him first place. Charlie Hill and Liam Rhodes weren’t far behind, taking second and third with some solid performances that showcased their growing skills.
It was an incredible start to the South Metro Ride and Roll Series, and we can’t wait to see what the next round brings. Thanks to all the riders, supporters, and spectators who made the day full of stokel. See you at the next stop in the series, Bibra Lake Skatepark on the 2nd of October!
