The Freestyle Now competition team rolled into Coolbellup Skatepark for an epic day of BMX and scooter action. With the sun blazing and a stacked lineup of competitors, the energy was high, and the tricks were flowing. We were stoked to deliver another skatepark competition to the City of Cockburn.
The Scooter Beginner division was a fierce battle, with Levi Hereema claiming 1st place through his confident riding and solid park use. Logan Knibbs landed 2nd, proving his skills across multiple disciplines as he also competed in BMX. Sunny Cordwell, a new face, grabbed 3rd—he was just riding at his local park when the comp kicked off, signed up on the spot, and absolutely sent it! In Scooter Intermediate, Hamish Gaze took 1st with clean, consistent lines, while Flynn Read followed in 2nd—a rider we first met at a coaching session when he was just 8 years old! Taj Driessen rounded out the podium in 3rd with a solid performance. The Scooter Open division was stacked, but Nathan “Jonesy” Jones threw down a flawless run to take 1st place. Tristan Sinclair and Dylan Mestrovich battled hard for the podium, with Tristan landing 2nd and Dylan’s impressive second run earning him 3rd.

The BMX Beginner class was full of excitement, ending in a tie for 1st place between Garnet Rock and Salva Hogan. A tiebreaker showdown saw Garnet edge out the win, showcasing his next-level skills. Lachlan McGough brought creativity to the table, securing 3rd, while Logan Knibbs stole the show with his infectious energy and impressive seat stands. BMX Intermediate kept the momentum going, with Bianca Martin taking 1st place—she sent some wild tricks that no one else was attempting, even coming back for redemption on a backflip attempt later in the day! Jayce Blakers and Levi Hereema put down solid runs to finish 2nd and 3rd. The BMX Open division came down to a thrilling face-off between Joshua O’Neil and Gerard McGough, two friends pushing each other to new heights. Joshua took 1st place, with Gerard securing 2nd, making for an epic final showdown.
From first-time competitors to seasoned riders, Coolbellup Skatepark was buzzing with progression, good vibes, and community spirit. A massive thank you to The City of Cockburn and everyone who came out to compete, watch, and support the event. Whether it was big tricks, bigger smiles, or unforgettable battles, this competition had it all. See you at the next one!
