twitterlinkedinmail

Kie Ashworth has been on the Freestyle Now squad since late 2005. His ability on a bike is absolutely amazing. He rides and hangs out with a good crew of riders in the southern parts of Perth. Sion Bourne has been documenting these riders in a series of videos. Round 3 out it is without a doubt one of the radest videos to be posted up on line for a long time. Great production and amazing riding. Check out the video to see Kie rolling hard along with some of his good friends hitting it hard.

EYRES Mandurah Action Sports Games – BMX

twitterlinkedinmail

You could use many words to describe the bmx competition that went down today at the EYRES Mandurah Action Sports Games but to sum it up easily, it was RAD. Bmx riders spun, whipped, flipped, flaired, chinked, smashed, bashed and literally destroyed trick after trick until there were no more to destroy. The day did belong to Western Australian heavy hitter Todd Meyn, with taking 1st in both the park and mini competition. Mandurah local Jay Wilson did qualify 1st in the park competition but could not hold off Todd in the battle finals. Two riders with completely different riding styles competing against each other was a treat to see. The final three in the mini ramp comp was tight. Laurence Bakewell, Jacob DeAbrue and Todd Meyn all had what it took to take the win and the ever growing crowd was loving the rad riding that these three were throwing down on the mini ramp. A big thanks to EYRES for their major contribution as well as Colony bmx and Stowaway for their support.

Wagin Wool-o-Rama

twitterlinkedinmail

Wagin is about 240kms south east from Perth. Each year for the past 40 years the Wagin Wool-o-Rama has taken place. It is now one of the biggest agricultural shows in Western Australia. The Shire of Wagin recently built its own skatepark within the showgrounds. Instead of getting a skatepark contractor to build the park they contracted the work out within the community. The savings were astronomical and the park has been built to perfection. Freestyle Now went down to the Wagin Wool-o-Rama last weekend to host a bmx, skateboard and scooter coaching workshop. On a very hot Friday afternoon and evening the locals were stoked to be ripping it up with the Freestyle Now squad. It is always great to help out new riders and get them learning new skills. On the Saturday it was equally as hot as the Freestyle Now squad hit up a series of show performance along with some coaching session in between. At the end of the day there were many happy people who either had seen some awesome bmx and skateboard riding or learnt some new skills. If you’re traveling down south stop into Wagin and shred the park, it’s well worth it.

Clockwise from top left – Tim Rose pumped the heck outta the park to boost this rad tabletop – Kie Ashworth likes the new Wagin this much – Tim Rose like to nacnac over everything – Callum McCauley skated hard even after he tweaked his ankle.

Clockwise from top left – Tim Rose took a while to find this line but finally found it and pumped this tabletop out totally unexpected – Kie Ashworth jumping from bowl to bowl while Callum films for a coming video edit – Andy liked the transitions and was pumping from one quarter over the spine and back again throwing down some good Andy style – Kie Ashworth kept the crowd on its toes by putting in a flair here and there during the stunt shows.
