Freestyle Now was at the 2021 Mandurah Boat, Caravan, 4wd and camping show to entertain the patrons with some awesome BMX stunt shows. Over 3 days Freestyle Now rolled out the rad with some serious BMX stunt shows. On day one Freestyle Now squad members Shaun Jarvis, Josh Garwood and Luke Tooze were also joined by Dylan Schmidt to perform BMX stunt shows. The conditions were perfect and the radness was rolled out. On day two we had another list of riders come in for the stunt shows as the Brunswick Junction agricultural show was on the same day and Shaun, Josh, Luke and Dylan we heading there to perform. Freestyle Now squad members Jack Carwardine, Albie Livesley and Taj Hamilton were joined by Nathan Dobbie, Ryan Aqulina and Michael Pidgeon. This crew was in charge of rolling out the rad and that is something they did. Lots of rad stunts were performed and lots of noise was made for the crowds, just like a BMX stunt show should be. One day three Shaun, Josh, Luke and Dylan returned but Josh’s ankle was feeling a little damaged from the Brunswick show, so Michael Pidgeon and Dempsey attend to help out with their radness. This gave the shows something on the next level with 5 rider backflip trains the crowds were so loud. Day three was definitely one of the raddest show days for sure. One of the comments we had from the event organizers was that the stall holders that we set up around the BMX stunt show site could still discuss business with customers while the BMX stunt shows were happening due to the bikes not making any noise, unlike the freestyle motocross shows they have has in the past.

Freestyle Now heading on out to the wheatbelt town of Kellerberrin to perform BMX stunt shows at the Kellerberrin Agricultural show. Freestyle Now has performed at the Kellerberrin show a few times over the past 26 years first in 1995 then in 2005 and 2013 and 2016. So it was good to be back and ready to roll out the rad for the crowds. Freestyle Now squad members Shaun Jarvis, Josh Garwood and Luke Tooze were also joined by Dylan Schmidt. The wind picked up on the day so the middle was taken out of the jump to make it smaller so the BMX stunt shows performers did not get too blown around in the air, Yes it was that windy. Even with the ramp shortened up big tricks were being performed. Freestyle Now came to roll out the rad and entertain the masses at the Kellerberrin show and that is what we achieved. Freestyle Now was at the Groundswell Festival in Scarborough to perform some awesome BMX stunt shows. It was a superb day for getting rad. Freestyle Now set up the FN big jump on the main strip in Scarborough and proceeded to roll out the rad for the Groundswell Festival patrons. Freestyle Now put on some really good bmx stunt shows to entertain the crowds. Freestyle Now squad members Shaun Jarvis, Josh Garwood and Luke Tooze and 8 year old Albie Livesley were also joined by Dylan Schmidt Big tricks were being performed and the crowds were putting the energy back into the performance, the more noise the crowd makes the more energy the performers receive. On the last show of the day Josh wanted to push the landing back to make a bigger gap. Attempt one and two ended in a spectacular crash, Josh was almost defeated but gave it one more go and sailed across the massive gap with ease to the roar of the crowd. Freestyle Now attended the 2021 Northam agricultural show to perform BMX stunt shows. It was a super awesome day with some great BMX stunts being performed for the crowds. Freestyle Now squad members Shaun Jarvis, Josh Garwood and Luke Tooze were joined by Dylan Schmidt to round out the BMX stunt show performers. The Northam agricultural show crowds were excited to see the four BMX stunt show riders put on a great entertaining BMX stunt show, but that what we do, entertain the people. Big tricks were being performed and the crowds were putting the energy back into the performance, the more noise the crowd makes the more energy the performers receive.

Luke Tooze went fast and high and won $1000 and brought a car. 1st place in the pro class.
The Zambrero BMX bowl battle was an epic event. Great vibe, great riding and great spectators, everything needed to make an epic BMX competition. Thanks to Zambrero the top 4 pro riders shared $2000 prize money. There were prizes galore from our supporters as well and we want to thank them heaps, Colony BMX, Sneaky Wholefoods, Local BMX, Cult Crew and Division Brand as well as the Groundswell Festival dropped in some rad prizes as well. Every competitor went home with heaps of products. The Zambrero bmx bowl battle was so rad with the level of riding from the beginner to the pros, it was so awesome to see. There were many different riding styles all interacting with the Scarborough Beach bowl. There were a few disappointed beginners who wanted to enter but were yet to be able to either drop in or get out of the bowl or both. There were a few beginners who had only just dropped in the day before they were that keen to enter. This was great to see the younger riders wanting to push themselves to ride such a mammoth bowl. All competitors had two runs in the qualifying rounds with only their best score counting. This set them up in the battle finals order. Qualifying was super important with riders qualifying first put them in prime position for the battle finals.
Be sure you give the highlights video a watch. Capturing all the radness from the Zambrero BMX bowl battle was not an easy task as there was just so much radness flowing all day. Be sure to attend next years and see it live.
The battle finals were epic with some dam fine radical skills being unleashed from the riders to make sure they will progress into the next round. Each lower qualifying rider had to battle in out against the next highest qualifier. The winner of this battle then took on the next highest qualified rider. Survival of the fittest and the raddest was the order of the day that’s for sure. Each rider had two 60 second runs to make sure they were the rider that would progress to the next round. Riders were judged on the overall impression of their run by the three judges, each giving a score from 0 to 30 points taking into account, difficulty, diversity, consistency, speed, height, flow, lines, and tricks. Each of the battles that took place were awesome, but there were two battles that were epic standouts.
The first epic battle was in the beginners, between two siblings, 15 year old Zac Martin and 8 year old Bianca Martin, brother and sister rolling out the rad and this is why BMX is so rad, no matter what age, size or sexual orientation, skill is the requirement. Zac had qualified in 5th and took on Brenton Waddingham. They both rode well but the judges gave the win to Zac, who only had only dropped into the bowl for the first time a few days previously. The 5th place was given to Brenton and Zac now had to ride against his sister Bianca. The winner from the round could then challenge Morgan West for the 2nd place. Zac dropped in first and powered around the bowl with some great lines 60 seconds later Bianca dropped in. The amount of speed and height 8 year old Bianca expressed was outstanding. Zac was then in for his second run which was the same as his first. Bianca’s next run started as a double peg drop in on the medium size transition, from there it was massive airs and great lines and good use of the hips. There were not many points between them but it was Bianca that took the win, on announcing that she was progressing to the next round the crowd let out the biggest cheer of the competition.
Zac claimed the 4th place and Bianca went on to challenge Morgan West, who had only just dropped into the bowl for the first time that morning. Again it was Bianca for the win over Morgan. This left the final battle in the beginners between two 8 year olds, two good friends Bianca Martin and Albie Liveley. While Bianca was airing the massive deep end at the tiles Albie was half a metre out of coping. It was Albie for the win and Bianca second place.
The stoke was high for all the place getters
Albie Livesley has only just turned 8 years old and is blasting like a pro. When you scale up his height and bike size that 12 foot deep bowl that he is airing to a adult rider would be 16 foot. This is a massive air. 1st place beginners.
The other epic battle took place in the pro class. Two West Oz legends, Dempsey and Aquaman. Both of these riders have been riding for 20 years, both grew up pedalling everywhere they go, in some cases they would ride 50 kilometres just to ride a skatepark, both of these riders are legends and have so much skill and dexterity on a bike they can ride anything. Looking back to when Dempsey and Ryan Aqulina were teenagers no one would have even thought that twenty years later they would be in one of the biggest bowls in Australia battling it out in the pro class. Dempsey qualified in 5th and rode first. He was on fire during warm up but a few too many foot downs and bails put him at a lower score. Dempsey did some great fakie variations which seem to be a lost art in BMX at the moment so that was great to see but Aquaman went higher had more airs and had less foot downs. It was Aquaman who took the forth place and Dempesy in fifth. Both these riders are not what you would call bowl riders, they ride all forms of BMX but they rode for the fun and it was so rad to see them interacting with the bowl with their style of BMX.
In the pro final battle 1st place qualifier Luke Tooze was challenged by 2nd place qualifier Ben Gately. After Jay Roadly was challenged by Ryan Aqulina, Jay won the battle but took some injuries so forfeited the next round and claimed the 3rd place. Luke was so fast, went super high, had trick variations and was flawless. Ben rode like Ben does, long flowing manuals and some great flowing bowl lines, it was beautiful to watch. Luke Tooze took home $1000, 1st place and a massive smile. (rumour has it he brought a car with his winnings)

Jake Welhan is a radical bmx rider and has the best one footer tabletops. His use of the bowl just pushed him up a few points for the win in the intermediates class.

So stoked to have him rolling in the Zambrero BMX bowl battle – Bianca Martin was the only female competitor and at only 8 years old rode super rad and went so high in the deep end, a well deserving 2nd place in the beginners – Levi Brown did the best one footers of the whole competition, 6th place in beginners. We hope to see him back in 2022 going higher and faster and still doing one footers – Roman Depiazzi did one of the best runs of the competition, tail whip to bar spin to 540. The combo was so clean. Roman is on a progression mission and he will defiantly be a hot contender for next year’s Zambrero BMX bowl battle 1st place position, if he continues with the rate of progression maybe in the pro class?

Luke Tooze is so bad ass. This 360 gap is so rad. Luke took 1st place in pro and $500 cash. Luke rode the Mandurah skatepark and just sent trick after trick. Such a great run.
The Action Sports Games has been a staple of the competition scene for 10 years, the first taking place in Mandurah in 2011. After a few years the event moved to Bunbury and was held there for a few years and now it was back at Mandurah, held at the new Mandurah skatepark. What an amazing event the Mandurah Mazda Action Sports Games presented by Drug Aware was. The competition zone was the small bowl and street/plaza section so that it gave diversity to the competition so that competitors of many different styles and abilities could throw down. This was one of the biggest BMX competitions since the Western Australian BMX freestyle state championships held back in November. The Action Sports Games BMX competitions was postponed twice before it was finally held. The competition was set to take place on the Sunday of the Action Sports Games but the water falling from the sky put a stop to that, and then it was set for early May but Covid restrictions were in effect so it finally took place in a perfect sunny day. The BMX competition was well attended with large numbers of competitors all keen to roll out the rad and help support BMX. The beginners and intermediate had finals, their qualifying rounds were super tight in points. In the beginners after qualifying the top six moving into the finals was Harlan Pfeiffer and Albie Livesley tied on 66 points for first and then Kayden Taylor sitting in 3rd with 60 points. 4th was Harry Daley with 59 points and Brenten Waddingham and Bianca Martin sitting tied in 5th with 57 points. Going into the finals it was a one between 4th and 5th. This was going to be a tight final. Harlan was able to take the win, with some good flowing and consistent lines. Coming in 2nd and a well deserved place was Freestyle Now recruits squad member Albie Livesley, only 2 points behind. Brenten Waddingham upped it in the finals moving into 3rd place. Kayden Taylor moved on down to 4th. He rode really well but tried some harder tricks which lowered his consistency scores. He has lots of potential and we are sure we will see him taking podium really soon.

Bianca won the girls class and mixed it in the beginners for a 6th place.
The intermediate class was super rad and fully stacked with lots of rad young riders. Ronan McCamish and Roman Depiazzi had tied for first place with 79 points in qualifying and were in the finals. Either of these two roadsters could take the win. Also making the finals in 3rd place was Jake Welhan. Jake has the best one footer tabletops going at the moment and he did plenty of them in the competition. We need more trick like this coming on up that for sure, pure style. Shae Matthews also made it into the finals but after hitting up some 720’s in qualifying his ankle was cooked from landing off. Only 3 riders in the finals, any one of them could take the win. Ronan McCamish has a great style and flowed around the Mandurah small bowl effortless. A first place. Roman Depiazzi is moving on up the skill set super good. He is expanding his abilities almost on the daily. In the finals he was less consistent than in his qualifiers which dropped him a few points behind Ronan but a well deserving 2nd place. Jake Welhan didn’t get the radness rolling in the finals. His game was off a bit. But he still managed to hit them one footed tabletops with that Jake style, a 3rd place.

The open class had just 3 riders. 3rd place went to Freestyle Now squadron leader Shaun Jarvis, second place was taken by Jack Hooper and first was Kieran Ramsey. These two riders ride completely different from each other. Jack is all grinds and lines while Kieran is all whips and flips. At the end of the two runs they both had a highest score of 82 points, it was a tie. To seek a tie breaker their firsts runs were looked at and Kieran had it with 80 points over 74 points for Jack. Congratulations Kieran. The pro class was all Luke Tooze. Power, flow, speed, big tricks. His 360 out of the bowl over the step up gap into the plaza section was just epic. A first place and $500 prize money. 2nd place was west oz legend Ryan Aqulina. Riding like only Ryan can. Great use of the park both bowl and plaza and $300 prize money, he was stoked. 3rd place went to Jeremy Mills with some nice riding and good flow and winning $160.
The Mandurah Mazda Action Sports Games presented by Drug Aware BMX competition was a rad day. It put BMX in the spotlight. Big props to the under 10’s and girls competitors, the future is rad that for sure. It was unfortunate that the weather cancelled the competition on the weekend as the rest of the Action Sport Games but the important factor is the competition finally took place and the radness was rolled out. We would like to thank our competition supporters Colony BMX, Local BMX, United Bikes as well as all the BMX riders and spectators who came to the competition. Freestyle Now once again headed to Langley Park in Perth to perform some bmx stunt shows at the 2021 Perth Australia Day event. The set up was a bit different due to Covid 19 with the performance area set inside a outer fence area, this enabled the crowds to check in before entering the performance area. The sun was out and the air was hot and as always the crowds were loud. As always Freestyle Now engaged the crowds and got them all amped up with a great BMX stunt show performances, its great when they are making lots of noise. Freestyle Now squad members Shaun Jarvis, Josh Garwood, Luke Tooze and recruits squad members Taj Hamilton and Albie Livesley were all in effect with Jack Carwardine there as back up announcer getting the crowds amped up. The Australia Day crowds were turning up the noise as the day progressed, the louder the crowd gets the more hyped the Freestyle Now show performers get to roll out the rad. It was a great show, the crowds at were amazing, with every show having great numbers of spectators all coming to see the radical bmx stunt show that Freestyle Now was performing. Freestyle Now was at the Moora street festival to perform some awesome BMX stunt shows. The event was an afternoon event so Freestyle Now performed bmx stunts shows while the sun was setting. The location was perfect for performing bmx stunt shows, in the heart of the Moora town. Freestyle Now put on some really good bmx stunt shows to entertain the crowds. Freestyle Now squad members Shaun Jarvis, Josh Garwood and Luke Tooze, invited Kieran Ramsey along to also roll out the rad.
