Freestyle Now – Tapping Primary school – School assembly presentation

twitterlinkedinmail

Freestyle Now was invited to attend the Tapping primary school to host a school assembly presentation. The focus of the presentation was around the importance of safety equipment. Freestyle Now squad members Shaun Jarvis , Luke Tooze and Josh Garwood invited Kieran Ramsey to come and roll out the rad with them to Tapping primary school. It was a hectic morning as we had set up on the basket ball courts and about to start the first presentation when it started to rain. We packed down the ramp and airbag lander and moved it into the inside location to escape the rain. Once set up inside there was no more rain for the day, but we knew that would happen. We had a smaller set up with no platform on the ramp, but the Freestyle Now squad did not let that slow them down. Freestyle Now put on two presentations for the students over the day. School shows are always the loudest and Tapping primary did not disappoint. The message we gave about safety was well received by the students.

A Freestyle Now school assembly presentation can be tailored to suite whatever message the school is currently delivering to its students. RU OK day – Freestyle Now school assembly presentation

twitterlinkedinmail

RU OK day is a great initiative that encourages people to meaningfully connect and support those struggling with life through conversation. Its ok to ask someone RU OK, sometimes that’s all it takes to help someone out of a bad situation. We all have got the ability to make a difference if we care to ask, listen, and just regularly look after each other.

Freestyle Now headed to the Waroona school once again to do a school assembly presentation based around RU OK day. It was the fourth time that Freestyle Now has attended the school for such a presentation. Freestyle Now moved the ramps into the undercover location due to the rain and proceeded to roll out the rad with a great positive message.

Freestyle Now can come to your school and bring a great positive message to the students using the medium of bmx, scooter and skateboard radness.

Squad members Shaun Jarvis and Tyler Jennings also invited good friend Luke Tooze along to bring the message of positivity to the students during the school assembly presentation. Shaun spoke about the importance looking out for each other, as the signs of depression and mental illness are not always seen like other illnesses and sickness. He also spoke about how it’s the small things that you do that can have a large impact on other people’s lives and you would not know the importance that has played in that person’s life. The presentation was well received by all the students from all the grades. Question time followed after the presentation with the students asking many questions about riding and life in general, which was great to see.

Some of the action that went down on the day, the students loved it as you can tell with the amount of noise they were making.

Freestyle Now – Comet Bay College – school assembly presentation

When you put in the effort you get to see the reward.

Ben Thomas and Dylan Schmidt put in the effort to get this double flair for the year 9’s at Comet Bay College.

Freestyle Now was invited to attend the Comet Bay College and host a school assembly presentation. The focus of the presentation was “E for effort” Freestyle Now squad members Shaun Jarvis, Dylan Schmidt and Ben Thomas and recruits squad member Karee Funeyvall were also joined by good friend Brendon Cross to show the students how putting in effort into your life can give you positive rewards. Being involved in BMX, Scooter and skateboarding required you to put in effort to learn new tricks. Sometimes these tricks can be an easy learn and not requiring too much effort and sometimes the tricks require so much effort to reach the goal of achievement. Landing a new trick after putting in so much effort is an amazing feeling. Learning new tricks and putting in effort is the same principle in all parts of your life. If you want something you need to put in the effort to get the reward.

Freestyle Now did four sessions, each to the years 7, 8, 9 and 10. During the school assembly presentation Freestyle Now performed lots of different BMX, scooter and skateboard tricks on the portable Freestyle Now ramps. Then at the mid way point Shaun Jarvis spoke to the students about how putting in effort give you the rewards you are seeking. Shaun also spoke about how putting effort into being kind has lots of positive effects to help have a kinder more accepting world. Some people don’t put effort into relating to other people which is a shame. Treating others with courtesy and respect also take effort. The students were encouraged to ask questions, with Shaun and the other Freestyle Now riders giving back some great answers on why they got into skateboarding, scooters and BMX. After discussion time it was back to rolling out the rad and letting the students see how putting in the effort in gets you the rewards you are seeking.

During the day there was a free period after lunch where a select number of students got to interact with the Freestyle now riders in a more personal way, hanging out, talking about life experience and how their efforts have given them rewards like contest success, international travel and great life memories. Positive role models with a positive message.

If you would like this type school presentation at your school please get in contact with Freestyle Now with your requirements.

Dylan Schmidt back flips the spine for the Comet Bay College presentation.

The Freestyle Now team came to Comet Bay College to present at our Year Group Assemblies, doing both a stunt show and a presentation.  Their presentation tapped into the school’s key message for Term 2, ‘E for Effort’, and the professional BMX, skateboard and scooter riders showcased many impressive skills to students.  Shaun Jarvis did an excellent job of connecting with and engaging our students. We appreciated Freestyle Now’s flexibility, professionalism and ability to deliver a key school message in a fresh and unique way.  The Freestyle Now team were also more than willing to talk with students during recess and lunch, and feedback from both staff and students about the event was overwhelmingly positive.  All students left the presentation with the message that working hard, whilst considering others, is the key to achieving dreams.

Freestyle Now school assembly – Ringwood Secondary College

twitterlinkedinmail

Recently Freestyle Now hosted a school assembly presentation at the Ringwood secondary college in Melbourne to give a motivational presentation to the students. Squad member Lee Kirkman was joined by good friends Jai Bradley, Josh Dunstone and Cal Egginton to roll out the rad and show the students that through dedication and sacrifice you can reach your goals. The school assembly was part of the bounce into mental health carnival that the school was holding on the day. Mental health is an important part of living. To mentally strong means you have the capacity to achieve many goals. It is important to be mentally aware and know the signs that things are not well, not just for yourself but for friends and family. Being involved in an activity can help you stay mentally strong.

Being active and involved helps you to stay mentally strong.

Lee Kirkman has been a professional BMX rider for the past 20 years. His achievements would not be possible without being positive and staying focused. Big 360 at the Ringwood Secondary Collage presentation.

Being involved in BMX, skateboard and scooter activities can help you and others to stay focused and mentally healthy. Lots of riders will say that when they are out riding it helps to clear their head as it changes the focus of the thoughts that you have and all of your thought process is devoted to performing tricks and stunts. This was just one of the messages that was delivered in the school presentation at Ringwood Secondary College. Staying focused and being involved in something creative and constructive, such as BMX, skateboarding or scooters is a great way to stay mentally strong.

Clockwise from top left – Jai Bradley backflips for the students showing that being focused gives you results – Josh Dunstone can move his skateboard in ways that leave people asking what did I just see – Cal Egginton uses his foot on the tyre to help stall right on the coping of the ramp – Lee Kirkman putting his multi talented bmx skills to the test with some bmx flatland trickery.

Jai Bradley spins a 360 while the back of the bike spins a 360 as well, also known as a tailwhip 360. You can see all the students are captivated by his skills, a moment in time they will remember for a long time.

Presenting these positive, meaningful messages and demonstrating the most radical heart-stopping BMX, skateboard and scooter riding that the students have ever seen is what Freestyle Now is all about. When you combine these motivational messages with back flips, front flips, 360 spins and so many other crazy epic stunts those messages stay with students for a long time and Freestyle Now is grateful to bring that radness to life to our young generations.

Freestyle Now school assembly – Bruce Rock school

twitterlinkedinmail

Recently Freestyle Now travelled out to Bruce Rock for a school assembly to give a motivational presentation to the students. Squad members Shaun Jarvis, David Pinelli, Matt Adkins and Jarrod Murfit, were on hand to roll out the rad and show them that through dedication and sacrifice you can reach your goals.

Through dedication and sacrifice you can reach your goals.

Matt Adkins lets loose for the students with a cannonball over the jump box

BMX stunt riding is an excellent example of what perseverance is all about. When learning a new trick, a rider must be willing to devote their time, energy and effort. They must be able to calculate risks, find out how to correct mistakes and pick themselves back up when they fail. Just as it took Thomas Eddison 1000 tries to create the electric light bulb it took Matt Adkins 99 attempts before he learned how to do a front flip – this is the type of drive, dedication and singular focus that is required for a rider to master a stunt. Coming to understand that to be truly successful you must learn from your failures can be broadened out to other parts of your life.

Clockwise from top left – Shaun Jarvis brought much of his life experience to the presentation along with some awesome bmx flatland skills like this backyard trick – David Pinelli spins a 360 without his hands on the grips – Matt Adkins mid front flip showing that anything in life is possible if you’re willing to learn the skill – Matt Adkins arms are aerodynamic for more air lift.

At the school assembly presentation the squad also talked about leadership to the students. Leadership can take many different paths, and an example that Shaun gave was on how someone else can have an enormous impact on your life and they don’t even know it! Shaun helped a young BMX rider set up his bike 25 years ago. Later that rider made contact with Shaun via social media saying that he never forget the time that Shaun helped him. He was so pumped and happy about the time that Shaun dedicated to him that it made him want to keep riding. Given that it was 25 years ago Shaun can’t remember that moment but the other person can! Our actions and what seem like small insignificant moments of leadership can have far-reaching consequences. When Shaun was a young BMX racer, he met the Godfather of freestyle Bob Haro. The opportunity to meet one of the BMX industries heroes and be encouraged by him was the main reason Shaun started Freestyle Now. If you were to ask Bob Haro about that moment 33 years ago, he would not remember, but Shaun does. The message to students was that leadership does not necessarily mean being a manager or CEO – it is about your everyday actions and how they can affect people for their entire lives – so strive to be a positive influence!

Presenting these positive, meaningful messages and demonstrating the most radical heart-stopping BMX stunt riding that the students have ever seen is what Freestyle Now is all about. When you combine these motivational stories with back flips, front flips, 360 spins and so many other crazy epic stunts those messages stay with students for a long time and Freestyle Now is grateful to bring that radness to life to our young generations.

Recently Freestyle Now was invited to the Waroona High School for a school presentation. The focus behind the school presentation is to demonstrate and to educate what radness is all about but to also provide a motivational presentation to inspire others with a mix of awesome BMX, scooter and skateboard skills. The week that Freestyle Now visited Waroona High School it was in the middle of mental health week and the “R U OK” program was in full swing. Freestyle Now set up the jump box and squad members Shaun Jarvis and Lee Kirkman were joined by reserves squad member Matt Adkins and good friend Morgan Ray to roll out the rad.
For the assembly presentation the younger students from the Waroona Primacy School also attended so it was super loud with lots of people screaming.  After the performance the primary students went back to class and our founder of Freestyle Now Shaun Jarvis gave a motivational presentation to the high school students on his past experience about “R U OK” and how it is important to have something in your life that you can turn to that is creative and constructive. Lee Kirkman also shared some of his past experiences to help motivate and inspire the students to make better choices in life. Matt Adkins and Morgan Ray also answered some questions from the students during some question time when the students got to hang out with the Freestyle Now squad. R U OK is an important question to ask your friends, as sometime they are feeling the weight of problems and issues and a simple gesture of asking “R U OK” can be all they need to know you care and are willing to listen. If you feel you need assistance with any mental health issues get in touch with lifeline. If you would like this type school presentation at your school please get in contact with Freestyle Now with your requirements.
