30th March 2024 – Skatepark coaching jam

  • EVENT – Donnybrook festival
  • TIMES – 10am, 11am beginners coaching session, 1pm – 5pm – jam session
  • LOCATION – Donnybrook skatepark, Donnybrook, Western Australia
  • INFORMATION – As part of the Donnybrook Festival, Freestyle Now will be hosting FREE skatepark coaching sessions and a skatepark jam at the Donnybrook skatepark and pump track for all skateboard, scooter and BMX participants. Head on down to the Donnybrook skatepark and participate in some good rad fun. In the morning there will be two beginner coaching sessions 10am and 11am, where participants can come and learn new skills and gain confidence. In the afternoon from 1pm to 5pm there will be some rad prizes to be given out for the challenges that are set on the day and there will be plenty. Who will win best trick? Who will win footdown? Throughout the skatepark jam session a variety of challenges will cater for all levels of abilities for all participants. This is a chance for participants to showcase their abilities amongst their peers and for the community to see the skatepark participants excelling in a positive way. Some of the types of challenges that might take place would include best trick, longest manual, best trick on a certain part of the skatepark, most engaged rider, best youngest rider, etc. Prizes are given out to the winners of the challenges.

  • LOCATION – Esplanade Youth Plaza, Fremantle,  Western Australia
  • INFORMATION – Freestyle Now will be hosting a FREE BMX coaching session at the EYP Fremantle skatepark.  Participants in BMX/ MTB will be able to learn new tricks or get advice on tricks and have a stack of fun. These workshop sessions are more than just helping teach skills. These workshops are fun, informative and motivational. The squad members let the participants ride at their own level and encourage progression. All our instructors are very easy going and relate to the participants well. Our workshops cover all aspects of the sports, as well as equipment maintenance and personal safety issues. All equipment is checked prior to the participant’s involvement to make sure that it is in a safe condition and minor repairs or adjustments can be made if necessary. We do, however, reserve the right to not permit a participant to attend the workshop if we feel that their equipment does not meet safety requirements. All thanks to the City of Fremantle.

  • INFORMATION – Freestyle Now will be hosting a FREE coaching workshop jam session for skateboard, scooter and BMX participants at the Mandurah skatepark. Participants will be able to learn new tricks or get advice on tricks and have a stack of fun. These workshop sessions are more than just helping teach skills. These workshops are fun, informative and motivational. The squad members let the participants ride at their own level and encourage progression. All our instructors are very easy going and relate to the participants well. Our workshops cover all aspects of the sports, as well as equipment maintenance and personal safety issues.   • INFORMATION – Freestyle Now will be conducting FREE SCOOTER coaching workshop sessions at the Montreal skatepark. The session will be open to any scooter participant over the age of 6 who would like to increase their skill level and get advice on tricks and gain new confidence levels but most of all everyone can have a stack of fun. These workshop sessions are more than just helping teach skills. These workshops are fun, informative and motivational. The squad members let the participants ride at their own level and encourage progression. All our instructors are very easy going and relate to the participants well. Our workshops cover all aspects of the sports, as well as equipment maintenance and personal safety issues.   • INFORMATION – Freestyle Now will be hosting a skatepark coaching session for skateboard, scooter and BMX participants before moving into a skatepark competition. Whether you’re into skateboarding, scootering or BMX these sessions are open to anyone over the age of 5 looking to improve their skills, learn new tricks, and boost their confidence, all while having a blast! Our coaching workshops are more than just skill-building sessions; they’re a chance to connect with fellow enthusiasts in a fun and supportive environment. Led by our experienced Freestyle Now facilitators and coaches, participants can ride at their own pace and receive personalized guidance to help them progress. A skatepark competition is a place for participants to showcase their skills and to demonstrate their growing skills to their friends, family, peers and the wider community. Skatepark competitions activate communities, help engage youth positively and involve community, parents, and beginner to advanced skatepark users.

  • INFORMATION – Freestyle Now will be hosting a Skatepark competition at the Cooloongup skatepark. A skatepark competition is a place for participants to showcase their skills and to demonstrate their growing skills to their friends, family, peers and the wider community. Skatepark competitions activate communities, help engage youth positively and involve community, parents, and beginner to advanced skatepark users. All thanks to the city of Rockingham. 
  • COMPETITORS INFORMATION – All disciplines will have a limit on competitor’s numbers so make sure you register online to guarantee your placement in the competition.
  • DISCIPLINES DIVISIONS – Competitors can only enter one division but can enter multiple disciplines
    • Scooter, Skateboard, BMX – Beginner, Intermediate, Open
  • COMPETITION FORMAT – The whole skatepark can be used. Each competitor gets 2 x 1 minute individual run. Best run counts. No finals. Competitors are judged on Difficulty, diversity and consistency

  • INFORMATION – Join Freestyle Now for an exhilarating FREE skatepark jam session at the Kwinana skatepark, open to all scooter, rollerskates and BMX enthusiasts of all skill levels. 14th April 2024 – BMX / MTB coaching jam 

  • EVENT – Bayswater BMX and MTB jump track opening 
  • TIMES –  10am – 1:30pm
  • LOCATION – Bayswater BMX and Mountain Bike facility(Under Mooro-Beeloo Bridge), Katanning St, Bayswater. Western Australia
  • INFORMATION – Get ready to shred at the grand opening of the new Bayswater BMX and Mountain Bike facility nestled beneath the iconic Mooro-Beeloo Bridge! Join us as Freestyle Now ignites the excitement with an action-packed day filled with coaching sessions, thrilling demonstrations, and an adrenaline-fueled jumping jam session. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or just starting out, there’s something for everyone at this epic event. Our experienced coaches will be on hand to guide you through the pump tracks, offering tips and tricks to help you master the terrain. Then, prepare to be wowed as our riders showcase their skills on the jumps, soaring through the air with jaw-dropping stunts and tricks. But the fun doesn’t stop there—participants will have the chance to join in on the action during our jumping jam session, where you can show off your moves and compete for awesome prizes. It’s a celebration of BMX and mountain biking like never before, and you won’t want to miss it! 20th April 2024 – Skatepark competition (skateboard, scooter, rollerskate, bmx)

  • EVENT – Balga skatepark competition
  • TIMES – 12pm – 8:00pm
  • LOCATION – Balga skatepark, Balga, Western Australia 
  • INFORMATION – Freestyle Now will be hosting a skatepark competition at the Balga skatepark. All thanks to the City of Stirling. A skatepark competition is a place for participants to showcase their skills and to demonstrate their growing skills to their friends, family, peers and the wider community. Skatepark competitions activate communities, help engage youth positively and involve community, parents, and beginner to advanced skatepark users. All disciplines will have a limit on competitors numbers so make sure you register online to guarantee your placement in the competition.
  • DIVISIONS – Competitors can only enter one division but can enter multiple disciplines
    • Scooter, Skateboard, BMX – Beginner, Intermediate, Open
    • Rollerskate – Beginner, Open
    • Inline – Open
  • SCHEDULE
    • Scooter competition – check in 12pm (21 participants)
    • Skateboard competition – check in 2pm (21 participants)
    • BMX competition – check in 4pm (21 participants)
    • Rollerskate and Inline competition (separate) – check in 6pm (18 participants)
  • COMPETITORS INFORMATION – All disciplines will have a limit on competitor’s numbers so make sure you register online to guarantee your placement in the competition.
  • DISCIPLINES DIVISIONS – Competitors can only enter one division but can enter multiple disciplines
  • COMPETITION FORMAT – Each competitor gets 2 x 1 minute individual run. Best run counts. No finals. 
  • JUDGING CRITERIA
    • Difficulty. Best score possible from one judge – 20 points
      • Definition – Tricks that are difficult to execute – Technical tricks – Difficult lines within the park – Large gaps or high airs will also be taken into account
    • Diversity. Best score possible from one judge – 20 points
      • Definition – A run consisting of various types of tricks (grinds, stalls and airs) – Using the park to its full capability (tricking on as many obstacles as you can) – Using the park in ways that other competitors are not (original lines through the park or tricking parts of the park that no one is tricking.) – The more varied the run and the more obstacles ridden the higher the score.
    • Consistency. Best score possible from one judge – 20 points
      • Definition – A run that has been done without any feet touching by mistake or crashes. – Tricks done but not pulled smooth will also come into account with consistency points – The less touches or crashes and the smoother the run the higher the score the competitor will receive.
  • Helmets are compulsory in all competitions.

  • INFORMATION – Join us at the Dowerin skatepark for an exciting series of skatepark coaching workshop sessions. Whether you’re into skateboarding, scootering or BMX these sessions are open to anyone over the age of 5 looking to improve their skills, learn new tricks, and boost their confidence, all while having a blast! Our coaching workshops are more than just skill-building sessions; they’re a chance to connect with fellow enthusiasts in a fun and supportive environment. Led by our experienced Freestyle Now facilitators and coaches, participants can ride at their own pace and receive personalized guidance to help them progress. At Freestyle Now, safety is our top priority. Before each session, all equipment undergoes thorough checks to ensure it meets safety standards. Our instructors are knowledgeable, easy-going, and adept at relating to participants of all levels. From equipment maintenance to personal safety issues, our workshops cover all aspects of the sport to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Thanks to the Dowerin community resource centre we’re able to provide these valuable workshops to the community. The session is open to anyone over the age of 5 looking to improve their skills, learn new tricks, and boost their confidence, all while having a blast! Our coaching workshops are more than just skill-building sessions; they’re a chance to connect with fellow enthusiasts in a fun and supportive environment.
