Rocky’s final fest skatepark competition was round 5 of the Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series. This invite only competition for advanced competitors, takes place on a special ramp course planned and set up all in a few hours on the morning of the competition. Competitors had to have competed in the skatepark competitions within the city of Rockingham and Kwinana to earn an invite and some riders were listed as wildcard entries. This competition is also a double point round for the Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series. With all the ramps set in place the weather started to look grim, yes rain was on the way. the competitors managed to get through one round of competition before the rain came, it was brief but heavy. With a 2 hour wait for it to dry up it was on again, with scooter round 2 almost finished the was a small patch of rain that come through, enough to stop all competition as there was no way it would dry up that late in the afternoon. The results were calculated from just the first runs and winners were announced. A massive big thank you to the City of Rockingham for their support for the competition and to the spectators who braved the winterey conditions to come out and watch.
Clockwise from top left – 1st place David Pinelli clicking a mad 360 lookback – Dylan Schmidt took 2nd place, this high flair was one of the many tricks done – Dempsey Varischetti rode with much flow and ease, took the 3rd place with pure Dempsey style, 180 over the spine – Laurence Bakewell can flair anything, 4th place to the radster.
Clockwise from top left – Jiordan Giacoppo has so much power in his riding and it showed at the Rocky’s final fest, rewinding over the box jump – Little Levi Mills took out the 2nd place in scooters, very consistent run indeed – Brandon Black over the hip with a whip front scooter on his way to 3rd – Jack Heron hits the box jump with a inward, 4th place.
Clockwise from top left – Cory Tyres is so fast and clean this gap to board slide is rad, a well deserved first place – Mason Brown has been flowing to many competitions lately and his flow is endless, 2nd place – Josh Birtwistle took out the 3rd place, clean ollie over the spine – Brendon Cross was on fire but a little inconsistent held him back to 4th place, box jumping.
