15th – 17th  March 2024 – Skatepark competition (rollerskate, inline , skateboard, scooter, bmx)

  • LOCATION – Mandurah skatepark – Mandurah – Western Australia
  • INFORMATION – Since 2011, the Action Sports Games has been the ultimate event for Western Australian action sports fans, and Mandurah provides the perfect backdrop with its stunning beaches, breathtaking inland waterways brimming with wildlife, and an epic skatepark that’s just waiting for this kind of competition. The Mandurah Action Sports Games will be held from the 15th to the 17th of March at Hall Park on the Mandurah Western Foreshore, and it promises to be an unmissable event. Featuring wakeboarding, freestyle motocross, and a massive skatepark competition, this action-packed weekend of extreme sports has something for everyone. The wakeboarding competition will take place over two days on Mandjar Bay, with freestyle motocross demos happening throughout the day. The skatepark competition featuring rollerskates, inline, skateboard, scooter and BMX will undoubtedly be a highlight, with top competitors battling it out for over $5000 in prize money and prizes. Competitors of all ages and skill levels can enter a range of classes, including pro classes with cash prizes on the line. Don’t miss out on this thrilling weekend of non-stop action and fun at the Mandurah Action Sports Games. Join us and witness Western Australia’s best action sports athletes as they compete in one of the most stunning settings in the state! Kicking off on the Friday evening of March 15th, the skatepark action begins with the rollerskate and inline competition. On Saturday, March 16th, round 1 of the Action Sports Games begins with the small bowl competition, with BMX leading the way before moving onto the scooter competition and finishing up with the skateboard competition. Sunday, March 17th is all about round 2 and the big bowl. The morning starts with the scooter competition, followed by skateboarding in the mid-afternoon and BMX in the evening as the sun sets. This is set to be an epic weekend of non-stop action that you won’t want to miss. Be sure to join us at the Mandurah Action Sports Games and witness some of Western Australia’s best action sports athletes in action!
  • COMPETITION FORMAT
    • Rollerskates, inline – Each competitor gets 2 x 1 minute individual runs in the small bowl. Best run counts.
    • Skateboard, scooter, bmx – Each competitor gets 2 x 1 minute individual run on both days (small bowl Saturday, big bowl Sunday). Best run counts from both days. Both scores are added to get your final result and to find the Mandurah Action Sports Games champion. Any ties for 1st, 2nd or 3rd is decided by a run off.

  • JUDGING CRITERIA – There are 3 judges to award points according to the judging criteria
    • Difficulty. Best score possible from one judge – 20 points
      • Definition – Tricks that are difficult to execute, Technical tricks, difficult lines within the park, large gaps or high airs will also be taken into account
    • Diversity. Best score possible from one judge – 20 points
      • Definition – A run consisting of various types of tricks (grinds, stalls and airs), Using the park to its full capability (tricking on as many obstacles as you can), Using the park in ways that other competitors are not (original lines through the park or tricking parts of the park that no one is tricking.), The more varied the run and the more obstacles ridden the higher the score.
    • Consistency. Best score possible from one judge – 20 points
      • Definition – A run that has been done without any feet touching by mistake or crashes. Tricks done but not pulled smooth will also come into account with consistency points, the less touches or crashes and the smoother the run the higher the score the competitor will receive.

 

20th March 2024 – Skatepark jam

  • LOCATION – Clarkson skatepark, Tidal Way, Clarkson, Western Australia
  • INFORMATION – Freestyle Now will be hosting a FREE skatepark jam session at the Clarkson skatepark for all skateboard, scooter and BMX participants. Head on down and participate in some good rad fun. There will be some rad prizes to be given out for the challenges that are set on the day and there will be plenty. Who will win best trick? Who will win footdown? Throughout the skatepark jam session a variety of challenges will cater for all levels of abilities for all participants. This is a chance for participants to showcase their abilities amongst their peers and for the community to see the skatepark participants excelling in a positive way. Some of the types of challenges that might take place would include best trick, longest manual, best trick on a certain part of the skatepark, most engaged rider, best youngest rider, etc. Prizes are given out to the winners of the challenges. Who will win footdown? Throughout the skatepark jam session a variety of challenges will cater for all levels of abilities for all participants. 23rd March 2024 – BMX stunt show 

  • EVENT – Cranbrook Agricultural show
  • TIMES – T.B.A
  • LOCATION – Cranbrook, Western Australia
  • INFORMATION – Controlled chaos is the best way to describe the Freestyle Now BMX stunt show. Professional BMX riders launch into the air and perform a variety of mid-air BMX stunts over a specially designed stunt show ramp. Backflips, front flips, 360s and no-handers are just some of the crazy tricks the riders perform. No show is ever the same with the riders trying new tricks and routines to engage and excite the crowd. The Freestyle Now BMX stunt show performers sometimes jump the ramp at the same time or jump over each other, you just never know what is next in this exciting and thrill seeking daredevil experience. The Freestyle Now BMX stunt show announcer will rev up the audience, encouraging them to give back some energy for the BMX performers. The more noise they make, the more the Freestyle Now BMX stunt show riders will want to throw bigger tricks. This is a one of a kind entertainment experience that is exciting for people of all ages.

 

30th March 2024 – Skatepark coaching jam

  • EVENT – Donnybrook festival
  • TIMES – 10am, 11am beginners coaching session, 1pm – 5pm – jam session
  • LOCATION – Donnybrook skatepark, Donnybrook, Western Australia
  • INFORMATION – As part of the Donnybrook Festival, Freestyle Now will be hosting FREE skatepark coaching sessions and a skatepark jam at the Donnybrook skatepark and pump track for all skateboard, scooter and BMX participants. Head on down to the Donnybrook skatepark and participate in some good rad fun. In the morning there will be two beginner coaching sessions 10am and 11am, where participants can come and learn new skills and gain confidence. In the afternoon from 1pm to 5pm there will be some rad prizes to be given out for the challenges that are set on the day and there will be plenty. Who will win best trick? Who will win footdown? Throughout the skatepark jam session a variety of challenges will cater for all levels of abilities for all participants. This is a chance for participants to showcase their abilities amongst their peers and for the community to see the skatepark participants excelling in a positive way.   • INFORMATION – Freestyle Now will be hosting a FREE BMX coaching session at the EYP Fremantle skatepark.  Participants in BMX/ MTB will be able to learn new tricks or get advice on tricks and have a stack of fun. These workshop sessions are more than just helping teach skills. These workshops are fun, informative and motivational. The squad members let the participants ride at their own level and encourage progression. All our instructors are very easy going and relate to the participants well. Our workshops cover all aspects of the sports, as well as equipment maintenance and personal safety issues. All equipment is checked prior to the participant’s involvement to make sure that it is in a safe condition and minor repairs or adjustments can be made if necessary. Participants will be able to learn new tricks or get advice on tricks and have a stack of fun. These workshop sessions are more than just helping teach skills. These workshops are fun, informative and motivational. The squad members let the participants ride at their own level and encourage progression. All our instructors are very easy going and relate to the participants well. Our workshops cover all aspects of the sports, as well as equipment maintenance and personal safety issues. Throughout the skatepark jam session a variety of challenges will cater for all levels of abilities and be all inclusive for all participants. This is a chance for participants to showcase their abilities amongst their peers and for the community to see the skatepark participants excelling in a positive way. Some of the types of challenges that might take place would include best trick, longest manual, slow races, foot down, most engaged rider, best youngest rider, etc. Prizes are given out to the winners of the challenges.

  • INFORMATION – Freestyle Now will be conducting FREE SCOOTER coaching workshop sessions at the Montreal skatepark. The session will be open to any scooter participant over the age of 6 who would like to increase their skill level and get advice on tricks and gain new confidence levels but most of all everyone can have a stack of fun. These workshop sessions are more than just helping teach skills. These workshops are fun, informative and motivational. The squad members let the participants ride at their own level and encourage progression. All our instructors are very easy going and relate to the participants well. Our workshops cover all aspects of the sports, as well as equipment maintenance and personal safety issues. These workshops are fun, informative and motivational. The squad members let the participants ride at their own level and encourage progression. All our instructors are very easy going and relate to the participants well. Our workshops cover all aspects of the sports, as well as equipment maintenance and personal safety issues.   • LOCATION – Cooloongup skatepark, Coolongup, Western Australia
  • INFORMATION – Freestyle Now will be hosting a Skatepark competition at the Cooloongup skatepark. A skatepark competition is a place for participants to showcase their skills and to demonstrate their growing skills to their friends, family, peers and the wider community. Skatepark competitions activate communities, help engage youth positively and involve community, parents, and beginner to advanced skatepark users. All thanks to the city of Rockingham. 
  • COMPETITORS INFORMATION – All disciplines will have a limit on competitor’s numbers so make sure you register online to guarantee your placement in the competition.
  • DISCIPLINES DIVISIONS – Competitors can only enter one division but can enter multiple disciplines
    • Scooter, Skateboard, BMX – Beginner, Intermediate, Open
  • COMPETITION FORMAT – The whole skatepark can be used. Each competitor gets 2 x 1 minute individual run. Best run counts. No finals. Competitors are judged on Difficulty, diversity and consistency

  • LOCATION – Balga skatepark, Balga, Western Australia 
  • INFORMATION – Freestyle Now will be hosting a skatepark competition at the Balga skatepark. All thanks to the City of Stirling. A skatepark competition is a place for participants to showcase their skills and to demonstrate their growing skills to their friends, family, peers and the wider community. Skatepark competitions activate communities, help engage youth positively and involve community, parents, and beginner to advanced skatepark users. All disciplines will have a limit on competitors numbers so make sure you register online to guarantee your placement in the competition.
  • DIVISIONS – Competitors can only enter one division but can enter multiple disciplines
    • Scooter, Skateboard, BMX – Beginner, Intermediate, Open
    • Rollerskate – Beginner, Open
    • Inline – Open
  • SCHEDULE
    • Scooter competition – check in 12pm (21 participants)
    • Skateboard competition – check in 2pm (21 participants)
    • BMX competition – check in 4pm (21 participants)
    • Rollerskate and Inline competition (separate) – check in 6pm (18 participants)
  • COMPETITORS INFORMATION – All disciplines will have a limit on competitor’s numbers so make sure you register online to guarantee your placement in the competition.

  • COMPETITION FORMAT – Each competitor gets 2 x 1 minute individual run. Best run counts. No finals. 
  • JUDGING CRITERIA
    • Difficulty. Best score possible from one judge – 20 points
      • Definition – Tricks that are difficult to execute – Technical tricks – Difficult lines within the park – Large gaps or high airs will also be taken into account
    • Diversity. Best score possible from one judge – 20 points
      • Definition – A run consisting of various types of tricks (grinds, stalls and airs) – Using the park to its full capability (tricking on as many obstacles as you can) – Using the park in ways that other competitors are not (original lines through the park or tricking parts of the park that no one is tricking.) – The more varied the run and the more obstacles ridden the higher the score.
    • Consistency. Best score possible from one judge – 20 points
      • Definition – A run that has been done without any feet touching by mistake or crashes. – Tricks done but not pulled smooth will also come into account with consistency points – The less touches or crashes and the smoother the run the higher the score the competitor will receive.
  • Helmets are compulsory in all competitions.
