Going for gold this weekend

Coolgardie is a small town just on the highway to Kalgoorlie with a population of approximately 800 people. When gold was discovered in the area in the early 1890’s the town started to grow. By 1898 it was the third biggest town in Western Australia after Perth and Fremantle and had a population of about 16000 people. During this time it had two stock exchanges, three breweries, six newspapers, 60 stores, and 26 hotels. This weekend on the 19th September Coolgardie celebrates its birthday with a big festival. As part of that festival Freestyle Now will be hosting a bmx, skate and scooter competition at the towns skatepark. Freestyle Now will also be bringing some its portable ramps to add to the skatepark. With a stack of product for prizes to give away it is shaping up to be one of the biggest competitions in the goldfields this year.
