It’s now all official. Yes a long time coming but it was worth the wait. Kim Bloodson is now officially on the squad roster.
Kim has been around bmx and skating for a long time. He has a massive amount of stories from his past that somehow if they weren’t Kim’s you would not think they could be true. Only that stuff could happen to Kim. Kim’s main role in the Freestyle Now squad is announcing at stunt shows and competitions as well as one of our head coaches. His microphone technique is now locked in and making history. Kim is a great asset to Freestyle Now and we welcome him. Kim has somewhat of an elusive history with chief Freestyle Now boss man Shaun Jarvis so we got a bit of background of this history.

“It is strange to know that Kim and I had moved in the same circles for a long time but only in last few years that we really got things on lock. Way back in the mid 80’s when I used to go to the Balcatta roller dome to the skateboard session Kim was there as a little grom skater kid, he even was there when the Powell Peralta crew came through in mid 87. A few years later maybe in 1994 or 1995 while I was doing a little demo Tony’s cycles in Heathridge a teenager Kim came there. He was riding at the back of the shops and found out we were doing a demo. We had cardboard boxes stacked up to bunny hop. He was getting over a good height. I was impressed but never saw him again until, January 2005, or was it (more on that soon).  Back in January 2005 we did a south west tour to do a few coaching workshops and Nannup was one of the locations. This long dreadlock looking dude rolls up hitting up the skatepark with some good style. We start chatting and we were both shocked to find out that we knew each other from the Heathridge shops day.  And again that was the last I saw of Kim until I went to host a jam in Manjimup in June 2008. From then on Kim was always around and we became good friends. Around mid 2011 I was doing a bit of Facebook searching I stumbled on to a link for a local Perth band “Drop Sick Injektors”. This caught me as we had used some of their music in the Behind the Bars TV show that me and Jason Parker did in 2000 – 2002. Back then I talked to one of the guys from the band about using their music, he told me that their singer was into bmx and that was the end of that. But then upon the facebook search I found out that it was Kim Johnson that was the singer. To say I was a bit spun out would be an understatement.”

So the connection between Kim and Freestyle Now has a long history, a story worth sharing. If you ever get the chance to have a chat to Kim ask him to tell you a story from his past, and believe it to be true as only Kim could have experienced this much in his life. Welcome to the squad Kim.

Kim had this to say
“I am Kim. I was put on this earth to do skids and make my friends smile. With two small wheels I intend to change the world. Life is short, keep it simple and enjoy the curb sessions. Love Kim, x ups n kisses”
