Freestyle Now

In 2012 there were 19 rounds of the Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series (F.N.W.A.S.S.) The series covers most of Western Australia from Karratha in the north to Kalgoorlie in the east and several south west locations as well as the Perth metropolitan area. The point series is open to all participants that compete in the stud class in bmx, skateboard and scooter disciplines. There were a lot of competitors who entered the competitions during 2012 with each competitor receiving points for their placing. Points are awarded in the following way for each placing,
1^st = 100 points
2^nd = 80 points
3^rd = 65 points
4^th = 50 points
5^th = 40 points
6^th = 30 points
7^th = 20 points
8^th = 15 points
9^th = 10 points
10^th = 5 points
11^th and beyond = 1 point

A congratulations needs to go out to the competitors who took competed and followed the series enough to keep their points up. This series dose not really dictate who it the best rider in the state but give the competitors series to follow to work on a yearend title. This is the second year the series has been run and it is gaining much momentum with the 2013 series getting set to roll out with round 1 taking place at the Rockingham skatepark on the 24^th of January.

The top placing in each of the categories for the 2012 Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series goes to,

Freestyle Now recently hosted a skatepark competition in the nation’s capital in Canberra. The competition was part of the Tuggeranong festival and there was a good attendance during the day from many spectators.  The competition encompassed all aspects of skatepark activity with the scooter competition taking place in the morning, skateboard jam in the afternoon and the bmx competition finishing up the day in the late afternoon. It was super windy on the day but it did not seem to deter the competitors from hitting all the rad lines and throwing down some rad tricks. A big thank you must go out to Rebecca at communities at work for her support as well as Mutts scooters, 4 skateboard Co and Backbone bmx.

Saturday 1^st of December will see the Tuggeranong skatepark in Canberra be full of goodtimes and radness as the skatepark gets hit with another Freestyle Now skatepark competition. The skatepark competition will include scooters, skaters and bmxers. The competition is all thanks to  Communities at work   and to Backbone bmx,  4 skateboard Co and Mutts scooters.
Registrations start from 9am and are taken during the day. The schedule of competition is Scooters – 10:00 – 12:00, Skateboard – 12:30 – 2:30, BMX – 3:00 – 5:00

This Saturday 27^th October will see the Kwinana skatepark inundated with people as they descend upon Calista oval for the annual Kwinana Freakfest. With a stack of activities going on during the day there will always be something going on to get involved with. The best thing is that the last round, round 19 of the Freestyle Now Western Australian skatepark series (F.N.W.A.S.S.) of the year. The end of this round determines the final placing for the overall year standings. The Freakfest runs from 10am till 4pm. Sunday the 14^th of October saw another round of the Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series and the last competition to take place at the Kalgoorlie Skatepark before it goes under a major renovation. Once the park is finished it will be close to the largest in Western Australia. Kalgoorlie has got a great bmx scene with some really good talented riders. The competition saw some amazing riding but the stand out would have to be young Josh Castle who is forever being empowered by skating and progressing well. A big thankyou to the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder as well as competition supporters Stowaway distribution, Mutts scooters and 4 skateboard Co for the rad prizes.

Friday 12^th October the Willetton skatepark was host to round 17 of the Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series. As always the competition was jam packed full with a great amount of radness going down at all levels.
