Chadd Walton was a local rider at the Mandurah skatepark and the Livewire Jam is held in his memory. The Livewire Jam is now into its sixth year and is the biggest gathering of bmx riders in Western Australia. The 2010 Livewire Jam was large with some riders hitting it hard and busting out the tricks while others were content to just chill and soak up the vibe that was rocking during the day. Freestyle Now brought in some its ramps and rails to add to the Mandurah skatepark which the riders were taking full advantage of. The mandatory bunny hop comp went down with local Mandurah rider Matt Bell eager to hold onto last year’s record of 107.5cm. The height was set at 50 cm for some to get a crack in and then it very rapidity moved to 100cm with a good contingency of riders still in the competition. Kie Ashworth seemed to be the favorite with clearly jumping the height with ease even when it reached the 108cm mark. Honorable mentions must go out to Warren Bowers, Dwayne Saul, Tim Rose, Dempsey, Madco, and Rex Cubic all of who got over the 100cm mark. In the end it was left to Jaymin King, Matt Bell and Kie Ashworth and at the 108 mark I was all Kie Ashworth who proceeded to go on to clear a record breaking 114cm height.

Top – Sebbi owned this gap on the day, X up from the Freestyle Now ramp, landing on the flat bank on the other side of the grind ledge. – Bottom left Dylan Schmidt trying to fly – Bottom right Madco was swinging some large one’s

Many riders were shredding during the day and for their efforts many prizes were given out. Products from Animal and FBM were handed out thanks to Stowaway distribution and Perth’s bmx only store Royal Bmx along with Valyside apparel also gave out product to the stack of awesome riders. During the day riders were encourage to come and vote for the rider of the day who would win the $100 cash prize (profit from drink sales on the day) at the after party. Names were taken down but it was Bunbury local Jaymin King who had the most votes in the end. Rightly deserving as well as he was hitting everything hard and fast with some impressive gaps and a large 360 from the flat bank over set up ramp and back rail onto the grass bank. The day started to come to an end unfortunately and most riders took the offer up to head to the after party. The 2010 Livewire Jam was one of the best days any rider could have had with a stack of riders all shredding with no injuries and many a rider winning free product. But the best prize any rider could have won was the fun that everyone had.

Clockwise from top left – Brad Mas loved the Freestyle Now box jump and this crazy nac nac was only the start of the love  – Rider of the day Jaymin King hovering over the 108cm mark – Calvin was happy that Freestyle Now had the green rail there on the day – Luke Snelling has got some style, x up one footer
