Freestyle Now head honcho Shaun Jarvis gives a check in about his latest travels.

“Over the last week I’ve been in Queensland for some stunt shows in Blackwater. The trip out there was epic. I flew to Brisbane with Phillip Marshall and meet up with fellow squad member Paul Chamberlain, good mate Michael Bayzand and Brisbane skate shredder Pedro Day at the Brisbane airport Friday morning, ready to fly to Rockhampton. Upon arrival after a hire car mix up (never book a hire car with a company you don’t know no matter what their website says) we were on the road to Blackwater. It was hot. Not long on the road we saw smoke ahead in the distance, there was some major burn off taking place. Through the smoke and onto the other side to find a smoke infused whirlwind. Defiantly the most bizarre thing we had all seen for a long time. Blackwater is a small town 200kms west from Rockhampton and their skatepark is quite old. It was build fairly rough with some of the flatbanks well sharp at the bottom. The Friday was the first ride I had on my new bike so everything was settling in still but it was ok. Friday night was an early one with all tired from the journey. Saturday was going to be a late start so we made good use of our time and headed out to the Blackdown tablelands. After a 1 hour drive and a 30 minute walk we got to the Rainbow Falls. We all had a swim and some chill time, it was great to be in some natural surroundings. The trek back was a hot one. The demos were great. The locals were defiantly digging it and the local bmxers are a great bunch of dudes. The demos just turned into a big jam session at the end. Local bmxer Jeremy invited us over to his house to chill with the locals and a few ciders were downed. Sunday it was off to Rockhampton to get a ride in before we flew out. The large park we went to was covered in glass, it was literally everywhere, so it was off to session a small park not too far away. A decent session transpired, although it was so hot, with some Rockhampton locals as well as a few of the riders from Blackwater. It was then back to Brisbane to where we all parted ways and I stayed on in Brisbane for a few days of R&R (relax and riding) I spent the next 3 days just chillin out, drinking coffee, getting my new bike dialled in (thanks to Lux bmx) and riding with the Brisbane flatland crew (Roni, Brett and Shane). I’m home now but getting ready to head over to Sydney and drive to Canberra with Paul Chamberlain for the Tuggeranong comp on the 27th November. That trip should be a smashing one for sure, till then getitinya.”
