Northampton agricultural show

twitterlinkedinmail

On the weekend the Freestyle Now bmx stunt squad went to the Northampton agricultural show to throw down some bmx stunt performance’s. Like with every trip this one had a great story.

The squad had only got about 50kms from Perth when the transmission in the car decided to get a bit hot and start to overheat. So a quick stop into Muchea and up on the hoist got the problem solved. This gave Tim the right amount of time to remove his stitches that he received from the Brawlin at the Belmar comp earlier that week. The 500kms trip was not a smooth one with a massive head wind to slow them down and to suck the old gas tank dry. The squad were booked in to stay at the old convent in Northampton and arrived there about 4 hours later than expected.

Show day came andas normal the Freestyle Now squad put on some awesome shows for the amazing crowds. A few of the Geraldton riders showed up and ex Geraldton locals Brad and the Pav man joined in with some of the demos. Again Dylan had his fan club of girls on location while Dave wished he had the blond locks Dylan has to get the girls. The locals of Northampton were really friendly and everyone had an awesome day. That night we were treated to an astounding meal at the Miners Arms pub and a big thanks to the publicans Sharon and Neville.

Come Sunday and the guys started the trip home, but  two skatepark stops had to be made along the way at Geraldton and Dongara. At Geraldton locals David and Shannon were rippin at the park. The stop at Dongara saw a stack of young locals who were well impressed with Deebz and Dave’s spine jumping ability.

The Northampton show trip was awesome. Dylan finally got a nickname after being on the squad for well over a year and much fun was had by all. A 1000kms trip is always a great way to spend a weekend.

Mukinbudin spring festival

The Freestyle Now squad woke up on Saturday for the shows at the Mukinbudin spring festival to a day that the weather decided to turn really bad, with wind and rain in all directions. The location for the show performance was not suitable due to this so, another location was sort. Because the Freestyle Now shows are so flexible we were able to adjust our demos to suit the very small area. It was a really tight spot with a low roof, with Dylan, Dave and Warren all hitting the roof from going to high. The Freestyle Now squad put on a awesome show and everyone was stoked. Mukinbudin is a really great town with a really welcoming atmosphere from the friendly residents.

Diversity is the key to the Freestyle Now shows. They can be performed in any location just like in Mukinbudin.

After the demos the guys went out to celebrate Warrens 18th birthday. A few great brews were had. Upon returning to their abode Warren and Dave started to wrestle around and due to their intoxication they both fell asleep on each other. Really funny stuff.

On the Sunday the trek home was started and not long into the drive an echidna was spotted crossing the road. Along the way some sightseeing was taken in and stopped off to see Tangplang rock. The guys kinda got side tracked getting there. Turning around on a track in a wheat field made for some precise driving. After seeing a massive rock in the middle of nowhere they drove on some more gravel till some really old mud brick farm house was found. Excitement plus from all.

The dive home was a bit too much for the party animals in the back, but we made it home all safe.

Perth to Newdegate Field day

twitterlinkedinmail

Last week the Freestyle now squad went out into the wheat belt for some awesome demos. We traveled from Perth to Newdegate to Mukinbudin and back to Perth. A total of about 1350kms. The drive was a good one with many turns, tribulations and tourist destinations.

Our first stop was Newdegate field day. This is a 400kms drive. We left at 6pm due to some last minute ramp maintenance and drove the distance at night. Quite a task due to the crazy rain that was falling for the first 150kms. We arrived at 1am to a fabulous farm house. It was so colds out there sleeping with socks and beanie was mandatory along with a stack of blankets. The two days of shows went off really well with some great participation from the spectators. With Kie and Tim over in America Warren Bowers and David Pinelli were invited along for the good times. Both of these guys rip it up and were flowing out the bangers with ease. Warren was really sick and started to cough up blood at one stage but after using his bottle of Senega Ammonia things started to settle. (towards the end of the tour)

Dylan Schmitt meet the love of his life while in Newdegate while Dave was stoked to be out in Newdegate just to watch the fashion show several times. The phone coverage out there is scarce and it is funny to see the dudes struggling without any mobile phone coverage. The moaning about it started to become annoying. How a bit of technology can affect people’s lives so much.
