Round 3 of the Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series took place at the Bassendean skatepark at part of the Gravit8 2017. It was a super turnout of 61 competitors and lots of spectators. The Bassendean youth services crew really know how to put on a youth event. There was heaps of activities going on during the skatepark competition and it was good to see some great parental support for the competitors. At all of the Freestyle Now skatepark competition there are three classes for competitors to enter, beginners (younger and still learning), intermediates (competitors with some good skills) and the open class (consistent and dials tricks) in the three disciplines scooter, skateboard and bmx. There is also a girl’s class to help encourage more girls to enter. We would like to thank the Bassendean youth services and our supporters, Colony bmxSacrifice scooters4 skateboard Co and Aikenhead skateboard shop. Round 4 of the 2017 series takes place at the Collie skatepark on the 12th March. Be sure to check our coming events page for all the latest information.

Clockwise from top left – Brody Groth didn’t win the open scooters but this nothing front scooter was one of the highlight tricks of the night – Luke Tooze is progressing well in bmx and his 1st place in the open class is proof of that, rad x up over the hip – Shayne Sorgentana was a last minute entry and everyone at the Bassendean competition was lucky that he did as they all got to see some really good skating from the winner of the open class. So many kick flips into grinds in his run, was so rad to watch – Winner of the intermediate scooter was Talyn Galic with a very impressive run with a high rate of consistency.
