Skatepark Coaching sessions are fun

Over the next few weeks Freestyle Now will be hosting a stack of skatepark coaching workshops for bmx, skateboard and scooters. If you’re keen to come out and have some fun, engage in some skatepark activity, chill with some of the Freestyle Now squad and learn some new skills then get yourself along to some of the sessions. Be active and Freestyle Now

The Freestyle Now bmx stunt squad was at the High Wycombe skatepark on the morning of the 25^th March as part of the Be Active Bike Week activities tanks to the Shire of Kalamunda. There were bicycle parades, bicycle decorations, bicycle slow races and naturally bicycle stunts. The morning was a low key affair with some great involvement from the crowd. The Freestyle now bmx stunt squad did a few demonstrations along with some bmx coaching sessions.

Wagin Wool-o-Rama

Wagin is about 240kms south east from Perth. Each year for the past 40 years the Wagin Wool-o-Rama has taken place. It is now one of the biggest agricultural shows in Western Australia. The Shire of Wagin recently built its own skatepark within the showgrounds. Instead of getting a skatepark contractor to build the park they contracted the work out within the community. The savings were astronomical and the park has been built to perfection. Freestyle Now went down to the Wagin Wool-o-Rama last weekend to host a bmx, skateboard and scooter coaching workshop. On a very hot Friday afternoon and evening the locals were stoked to be ripping it up with the Freestyle Now squad. It is always great to help out new riders and get them learning new skills. On the Saturday it was equally as hot as the Freestyle Now squad hit up a series of show performance along with some coaching session in between. At the end of the day there were many happy people who either had seen some awesome bmx and skateboard riding or learnt some new skills. If you’re traveling down south stop into Wagin and shred the park, it’s well worth it.

Round 2 Freestyle Now Western Australian Skatepark Series – Karratha

Over the weekend of the 25^th and 26^th February Freestyle Now was up in the North West of Western Australia to help open the new Karratha skatepark, host round 2 of F.N.W.A.S.S. and run a coaching jam session. On Friday night the official opening took place for the new youth centre and stage 1 of the new Karratha skatepark. On the Saturday it was competition time with a large number of entrants all wanting to throw down in the Skate, Scoot and BMX competition. On the Sunday it was trek time out to Wickham to host a coaching jam session. With an unexpected number rocking up to enjoy some good old fashion fun the day turned out awesome. Big thank you to the Shire of Roebourne and our great supporters Stowaway distribution, 4 skateboard co and Mutts scooters.

New Armadale skatepark opening launch

On Friday 17^th February the official opening of the new Armadale skatepark took place. Freestyle Now was there on the day to help with the opening ceremonies. After all the formalities were done Freestyle Now hit up a short bmx and skate demo and then rounded out the afternoon with a fully packed coaching jam session. There were give-a-ways as well thanks to Stowaway distribution, 4 Skateboard co and Mutts scooters. The new skatepark is a plaza style set up with some stairs, ledges and banks and is fun to hit up. Check it out on Orchard Avenue in Armadale and get a fun session going.
Freestyle Now will also be hosting a series of coaching jams every Thursday from 4pm till 6pm over March and April so make sure you check out the coming events page to find more info.

Armadale Skatepark opening

It’s on today. 10 years in the making. Finally Armadale has got a new skatepark. The official opening is today. Taking place from 3:30pm till 5:30pm Freestyle Now squad members Phillip Marshall, Shaun Jarvis and Tim Rose will be there to hit up a quick demo and then after there will be a bit of a coaching jam for bmx, skateboards and scooters. Give-a-ways will also be happening thanks to Stowaway distribution, 4 Skateboard co and Mutts scooters. See ya there.

New Armadale skatepark launch and coaching sessions

Armadale located in the southern suburbs of Perth has a long history dating back into the late 1850’s. Back then there was talk about a central location where people could gather and partake in activities on wheels. Fast forward to 2012 and the people in Armadale finally got their location for wheeled activities. The New Armadale skatepark has been a long time coming. The set up is a plaza style which is a first for the Perth area. The official launch takes place on Friday 17^th February. The festivities kick off at 3:30pm and runs for two hours. The officials will do their official thing to make it all official and then it will be officially open. Once that has all taken place the Freestyle Now squad will be throwing down a demo and then an open coaching jam session will take place, with prize give-a-ways from Stowaway distribution, 4 Skateboard Co and Mutts scooters.
After the official opening there will be a series of coaching workshops open to all participants in Bmx, Skate and Scooter. All participants will be required to have a helmet. (If you don’t have a helmet then go buy one and protect your head, you only get one.) These coaching sessions will take place on a Thursday afternoon from 4pm to 6pm on the following dates:-

Thursday 23 Feb – Coaching Session 1
Thursday 1 Mar – Coaching Session 2
Thursday 8 Mar – Coaching Session 3
Thursday 15 Mar – Coaching Session 4
Thursday 22 Mar – Coaching Session 5

Then to top it all off the new Armadale skatepark will feature a bmx, skate and scooter competition take place on Friday 13 April.

Lot 208 youth bmx skate and scooter coaching workshops

On Monday 23^rd and Tuesday 24^th of January Freestyle Now hosted two skateboard, scooter and bmx coaching workshops for Lot 208 youth at the Australind and Harvey skateparks. Australind was on the Monday with a good turnout of skatepark users to enjoy a morning of learning new tricks. The push for a new skatepark at Australind was also promoted on this day as well which is good to see as Australind is long overdue for a new facility. On the Tuesday it was time to rock it out at the Harvey skatepark. The locals had the morning to get some great trick tips during the coaching workshop. All the participants during the workshop went away smiling at the end of the workshops. Either they received product from Stowaway distribution, 4 skateboard co and Mutts scooters or just the fact that they learnt new tricks and skills that they had otherwise not had the chance to learn.

Australind and Harvey coaching sessions

Freestyle Now will be hosting an skateboard, scooter and BMX coaching jam session on the 23^rd of January at Australind and then in Harvey on the 24^th of January. This event has been made possible by criminal property confiscation grants programme and the Shire of Harvey. Participants on the day will be able to engage with the Freestyle Now squad members to assist them in learning new skills and tricks. The day will be supported by Stowaway distribution, 4 skateboard co and Mutts scooters with some great prizes on offer on the day.

Bunbury Jammin in the Park

On the 15th of October the skatepark in Bunbury came alive with chaos and madness with the Jammin in the Park day. Freestyle Now was down in there at the Bunbury Skatepark for the day. In the morning there was some formal coaching workshops for scooters and BMX then in the afternoon it was a full on jam session with bands kicking in the live tunes for the day.
