The spectators of the recent NBL (National Basketball League) match between the Perth Wildcats and the Adelaide 36ers were treated to a great halftime show from the Freestyle Now bmx stunt squad. With Challenge Stadium sold out to a 5000 capacity crowd the riders punched out a solid ripping 5 minute show. Unfortunately for the Wildcats they went down to the Adelaide 36ers 92 to 100 but the winners of the night was the unexpected crowd who got to see an awesome display bmx riding.

Freestyle Now BMX stunt squad – Margaret River agricultural show

twitterlinkedinmail

The weekend of the 22nd of October the Freestyle Now bmx stunt squad headed down to Margaret River to attend the Margaret River Agricultural show to perform some BMX stunt shows. Squad member Shaun Jarvis flowed some words and photos from the weekend,

“Hey all, the Margaret River show was a hoot. Friday afternoon once the ramps were hitched up to the FN wagon Dave Pinelli, Michael Bayzand and me set off to pick up Dylan Schmidt along the freeway and then we were south bound. First stop was Gelorup for a quick session at the skatepark and then to eaten by midges on our departure. Busselton was our next destination. Bryn Weinman was letting us stay at his house for the night. Although he was out at his graduation dinner we couldn’t get to his till really late so a rad session went down at Busselton skatepark after an awesome meal at one of the local pubs.
Come Saturday morning it was off to Margaret River for the show with extra guest rider, Bryn. On my first bit of warm up for the shows I ended up snapping my frame. Not a good thing while in show mode but things happen. To get the show done I had to carry my bike to the top of the ramp to get the jump over part of the show done, it’s all good thou as all the shows got done with the crowds giving much applause and cheers. We had time during the breaks in the shows to go and session the skatepark. Was really bummed my frame had snapped as it was a fun session. Anyway we rocked out hard at the Margaret River show, it was awesome. That night we headed back to the house of Bryn. The next morning it was back yard ramp session time but as my bike was screwed I dint get to have a roll, didn’t really matter as I had to wait out the front for the RAC as Michael so conveniently locked the keys in the car. There always comes a time for fun to be over and that time came so it was then pile in and get going back to Perth. Big thanks to the Weinman family for letting us crash at their house and to the riders on the trip for getting their rad on.”

twitterlinkedinmail

The Kambalda car ute and bike show was an awesome day. It was hot but being out in the middle of the Western Australian goldfields you would not expect anything but hot. Freestyle Now had 3 guest riders out for the show, Michael Bayzand, Jaymin King and goldfields local Corey Smithies. The day had lots of sweet looking cars of all types on display and Hells Bells (AD/DC tribute band) rocked out the night. While packing up after the shows one local came up and expressed how stoked he was on seeing a backflip, his gratitude was express several times over and over and over, not sure if he was excited but it seemed to be that way.

Freestyle Now at Hopetoun Agricultural show

twitterlinkedinmail

Hopetoun is located about 400kms north west of Melbourne. And just like most country towns they have a once a year agricultural show. For 2011 the Hopetoun agricultural invites Freestyle Now along to perform some stunt shows on their new skatepark that had just been installed a few weeks prior to the show. Freestyle Now enlisted good friend Greg Barns to head up the assault on the small town. And as normal the crowds loved it, the riders loved it, the skatepark loved it, and everyone was having fun. Below are a few snaps of some of the fun taking place.

Freestyle Now stunt squad – Day 8 – Perth Royal show

twitterlinkedinmail

After 8 days 16 BMX stunt shows the Freestyle Now squad ended the Perth Royal show with a banger of a show. The lunch time show was full of tricks from the squad all smashing out some radness. The Night time show was off the hook. Riders were jumping all over the place with nonstop action. On ramp 1, Dylan Schmidt and Michael Bayzand did backflips side by side, crazy stuff with no room for error. On jump 2, Jake Greaves and Tim Rose almost touched front wheels when Tim went for a flip and while in the 180 upside down mode Jake was taking off, so close but excitement all round. Ramp 3 the action was non stop with Bradie Yoemans throwing down some of the best tyre grabs in the biz. At the end of the show the riders from ramps 2 and 3 all hit up ramp 2 in a train mode and kept going onto ramp 1 where all 15 riders hit the ramp in one nonstop long train. Epic. After all was done it was time to celebrate with Royal BMX hosting an after royal show party.

Freestyle Now would like to send a big thanks to all the riders who participated in the BMX demos at the 2011 Perth Royal Show. Without all of the riders shredding  like they did none of the insane action would have been happing. Props to you all.
