3500kms of radabonzical action – Capel skatepark competition

twitterlinkedinmail

Saturday 10th April saw Capel skatepark come alive with some rad action going down. Locals and non locals came to hang out and enjoy the great day. Thanks to Stowaway distribution and beyond skate for helping out with prizes for competitors. The competitors were getting into the competition mode well with a mass amount of tricks being thrown down. Thanks to Donna from the Capel shire for taking photos all day and printing them out for the riders to take home with them, that was awesome.

Capel was the first stop of the 3500kms of radabozical action trip. A mad 10 day journey covering a vast distance within the country of Western Australia. With squad member Shaun Jarvis at the wheel and the hard core Ben Moran sitting shotgun the back seat was taken up by squad member Phillip Marshall for the first few day and then switching up with the mad Matt Reilly.

After the competition was finished Shaun fills us in with the rest of the day’s story,

Once the competition was over we headed to the Boyanup bowl with Mike Collins, Brad Beven, Ross Drummet and Nannup legend Kim Johnson for a rad session of the bowl. That place rips for sure. Highlight there was most defiantly seeing Ben Moran pull a backwards rolling decade on the deck just as Kim carves underneath him in the bowl. The timing was not planned but they must have been in secret training for that to take place.

Saturday night was spent in Bunbury at Brad’s girlfriend sister’s house. We unfortunately ventured out to a really crap pub where the DJ must have thought it was a blue light disco. Once that closed we got into this packed pub to listen to a bad covers rock band. After they had finished I started a last clap/one more chant in which the whole pub got in on, and so one more cover was done, glad to get out of there but it was fun times. Ben, Phillip and myself had to catch a taxi back to the place we were staying at as we had an early start while the others went out to party it up. So we got to the place, sorted the sleeping arrangements and got some sleep, when not long after Brad’s girlfriend sister’s comes home and she must have forgotten that three dudes were sleeping in her lounge room and started to freak out. It got sorted and a small amount of sleep was had.”

Busselton stacks and stunts – Sunday 22nd November

twitterlinkedinmail

Once again we were on the road to host another competition. This time down in beautiful Busselton. We trekked down there on the Saturday and stopped off in Bunbury for a bit of riding. It was good to see Bunno locals Rex and J.King throwin down mad styles at the park. Accompanying Shaun Jarvis and Victorian transplant Ben Moran on the trip was Sebbi Scott, Ryan Griffiths and squad member Dylan Schmidt.

A short street ride consisting of Shaun, Ben and Dylan was put into place as Ben wanted to have a bit of a look around Bunbury, and a few spots were ridden in the process. We arrived in Busselton Saturday night and Ben was still in the mood to ride so a small session was had right in the hotel room, you can’t stop a man on a mission.

Sunday at it was time for stacks and stunts. The Busselton Park doesn’t have much flow so the Freestyle Now ramps were defiantly put to good use and made for a vast improvement. With competitors signed up and the spectators waiting to see some stacks and stunts, the action commenced. It was great to see so many people out in support of the event and the day came to an end with local band The Beauty of Slaughter ripping the place apart with some Deathcore/grindcore masterpieces. Big props out to Cas and Joel at Southern Rip along with the T shirt Shack, Stowaway distribution and Beyond skate .

Late Sunday arvo we began out trek back to Perth but not before stopping in Bunbury to bare witness to a road rage incident. It was a very ugly occurrence to see two young guys beating up a single driver just because he was driving a bit to slow. I do hope Michael is ok and that the perpetrators get apprehended. Apart from that said incident the trip was awesome and fun was had by all.
