Tánh is a game player

twitterlinkedinmail

Freestyle Now squad member Tánh Gà recently was the driving force behind getting the Saigon X games Day up and rolling to help promote bmx and skateboarding throughout Saigon, his home city. The day has nothing to do with the X Games that we are so familiar with but it is a title that people in Vietnam can associate with. In Vietnam the term play bmx is used much more than ride bmx. The contest day took place at various locations around Saigon.
Tánh seems to be getting the bmx scene in Saigon cranking hard. From organizing the first SXD (Saigon X games Day) with support from UFO Streetwear and LightFest the offers from others sources are now wanting to help out with the next SXD that are being planned. The day got some magazine coverage and the video below is super rad. All of this coverage will no doubt assist with generating more hype for the upcoming events.

This is what Tánh has to say “1 year I got 4 contests, that is everything player want, funny contest for beginner and really contest for real player. Waiting for clip Saigon X-game day and use that for find more sponsor. So when finish the 1st x-game day, much of people like it. Now I work in Jett Cycles bike shop and many kids come and say I see you in X-game day and want ridding too. Some guy wants to make for us website for community x-gamer. So that’s all and trying to better at everything riding, better event After contest, I dream got enough sponsor to build the halfpipe, what do you think?”
We think it’s so rad to have a day like this out in the streets promoting what we all live for, Tánh has the true essence of the Freestyle Now sprit.

BMX for FLOODS

twitterlinkedinmail

Today marks the one year anniversary of the BMX for FLOODS jam. Australia wide, 9 locations, one jam, one day.
The objective of BMX for FLOODS was to raise money for the Premiers disaster relief fund for the victims of the Queensland floods that happened in January 2011. The BMX for FLOODS jam was the brain child of Freestyle Now squad member Shaun Jarvis who wanted to organize something for the people affected by the floods. The national jam took in every state and territory around Australia with 9 locations. There is a long list of people who contributed to the organizing of the jams around Australia to make them so successful, so a big thankyou to everyone and anyone who was involved in the events. BMX for FLOODS rose just over $12500 from donations and the auctioning of product donated from companies. Check out the official website to see some of the information surrounding the national event.
While in Tasmania for the jam Shaun Jarvis did a video interview with the ABC. Click here for the link.
There are a few videos on line from many of the locations but the below video is from the Canberra BMX for FLOODS jam. A big thanks to the guys at Back Bone Bmx for hooking that one up.
