Kalgoorlie skatepark competition – bmx scooter skateboard

Freestyle Now travels around Australia hosting many skatepark competitions, on this occasion we were in the Western Australian gold fields town of Kalgoorlie to roll out the rad. A great number of competitors came out to win some awesome prizes. It has been a few years since Freestyle Now was in Kalgoorlie so it was good to be back to see a lot of new riders and some of the older riders still killing it. It was a good turnout of competitors with many spectators coming out to watch the action on the skatepark. Many competitors went home with great prizes. It is great to see a father riding the skatepark with his children and entering competitions, great work – Leon Vermey took the first in BMX open with some great skills like this flair in the bowl – Illist Orr won the BMX intermediates, it’s great to see the son of another BMXer who had entered many Freestyle Now Kalgoorlie skatepark past competitions taking the batton and competing in competitions – Jasely Dimet won the scooter open class, backflip 180. Banksia Grove skatepark competition bmx scooter skateboard

Banksia Grove has recently had a new skatepark opened up and Freestyle Now hosted a bmx, scooter and skateboard skatepark competition on the opening day. It was a good turnout of competitors with many spectators coming out to watch the action on the skatepark. Many competitors went home with great prizes. Everyone likes to get prizes. The stoke is high. The Banksia Grove skatepark competition had lots of prizes to give out to the competitors in BMX, scooter and skateboard classes. When Freestyle Now hosts a skatepark competition we let the winners choose their own prizes from the prize products on offer. Then we let all competitors come up and pick their prize in order of placing until all the prizes are gone. In many cases even 10th place receives a prize.

Freestyle Now bmx stunt show – Brunswick Junction agricultural show

Freestyle Now recently performed some bmx stunt shows at the 2018 Brunswick Junction agricultural show. The Brunswick Junction agricultural show is one of the biggest one day show in Australia, the crowds were large. Freestyle now performed some amazing bmx stunt shows throughout the day, the audience were really getting into it and making lots of noise. The more noise the crowd make the more the riders get amped to perform bmx stunts. The crowds at were amazing, with every show having great numbers of spectators all coming to see the radical bmx stunt show that Freestyle Now was performing.

Freestyle Now bmx stunt show at Kwinana skatepark

The new Kwinana skatepark recently celebrated its first year. The old skatepark was torn down and a new one was built. Freestyle now had the pleasure of doing a skatepark stunt show and a jam session at the celebrations day. Freestyle Now squad members Dylan Schmidt, Matt Adkins, Jack Carwardine and Taj Hamilton were there to roll out the rad along with good friends Luke Tooze and Nathan Dobbie. It was a fun afternoon with lots of prizes given out to other bmx riders who participated in the jam sessions.

Bridgetown skatepark competition bmx scooter skateboard – Round 6 freestyle now western Australian skatepark series

Round 6 of the 2018 Freestyle Now Western Australian skatepark competition series took place at the Bridgetown skatepark. It was great to have some good weather for the Bridgetown skatepark competition as in the past it rained on several occasions. It was a small but good turn out with many bmx riders making the journey down south to attend the competition and make a weekend of riding some of the south west skatepark. The competitors were all keen to show off their skills in the skatepark competition. With participants in scooter, skateboard and BMX the competition was a great success. The riding at the competition was as always off the hook with competitors pushing themselves to get their tricks done in the runs. DownUnderGround – 2018 Australian bmx flatland championships – Video round results

DownUnderGround is the Australian bmx flatland championships and has been going since 2008 with Freestyle Now being the competition organizer. Once again DownUnderGround will return to Melbourne for series 10 of the national competition on 1st December at the iconic Melbourne Imax in Carlton.

DownUnderGround also has a video contest to help riders earn points toward taking the Australian bmx flatland title. Riders submit a contest video between 1 and 2 minutes in length. The rider has to perform their tricks on camera as if they were at a physical contest. Riders are then judged according to the judging criteria. This year the video round judges were –

Paul Chamberlain, Freestyle Now squad member and flatland rider who is no stranger to competitions having judge and entered many DownUnderGround competitions

John Yull, Winner of the 2017 Master Of Creativity video contest and judge of the 2018 master of creativity video contest

James McGraw, With decades of bmx flatland competition experience and is the guy behind the American Flatland Association

We would like to give a big thanks to the judges and it was great to have their input into judging the video round.

Freestyle Now bmx stunt show – Geraldton Sunshine Festival

Freestyle Now headed to Geraldton to perform some bmx stunt shows at the 2018 Geraldton Sunshine festival. Freestyle Now squad members Shaun Jarvis, Dylan Schmidt, David Pinelli and Matt Adkins all performed some amazing bmx stunts throughout the day. The crowds at the Geraldton Sunshine festival were amazing, with every show having great numbers of spectators all coming to see the radical bmx stunt show that Freestyle Now were performing. The Freestyle now squad members worked the crowd with some of the most amazing bmx stunts that they had seen, Dylan Schmidt with his superman tailwhips, David Pinelli was doing 360 variations on every jump, Matt Adkins front flipping and Shaun Jarvis risking it by being jumped over while balancing on his bike on top of the jump ramp. Freestyle Now performed some great entertaining bmx stunt shows with many rad tricks taking place.

Willetton skatepark competition bmx scooter skateboard – Round 5 freestyle now western Australian skatepark series

Round 5 of the 2018 Freestyle Now Western Australian skatepark competition series took place at the Willetton skatepark as part of the City of Canning Youth Festival. It was a great evening event with so much activity taking place in and around the skatepark. The competitors were all keen to show off their skills in the skatepark competition. With participants in scooter, skateboard and BMX the competition was a great success. The riding at the competition was as always off the hook with competitors pushing themselves to get their tricks done in the runs. Clockwise from top left – Steven Heuer was in top form with a good mix of technical and large tricks with taking the first place in open BMX – Mitch Curtis had a blast at the skatepark competition and was seen smiling throughout his runs, it’s a common assurance with many competitors, taking a first place in open skateboard – Ben Tarrget with one of the most insane tricks we have seen, the lucky dip. Such a crazy trick to be done on such a small jump. Ben took out the first in the intermediate bmx class – Jae Yates took out the first in scooter open with some crazy combo tricks and great flow around the skatepark.

Freestyle Now bmx stunt show – Meekatharra outback festival

Freestyle Now travelled to Meekatharra for the Meekatharra Outback festival to perform  some bmx stunt shows. Meekatharra is 750kms north east from Perth. On the trip for the show performance was Freestyle Now squad member, show veteran and co founder Shaun Jarvis along with three guest riders all of who have performed bmx stunt shows with Freestyle Now before, Luke Tooze, Josh Garwood and Nathan Dobbie. The journey out to Meekatharra was a long 12 hour drive and a 12 hour drive back home.

Freestyle Now set up the portable jump box on the street in Meekatharra and proceeded to perform six bmx stunt shows over the course of the day. Freestyle Now performed some great entertaining bmx stunt shows with many rad tricks taking place. The three day journey was epic with good times taking place as always. We are currently editing the trip video which will be posted up to out YouTube channel soon, when it’s done it will also be posted to our website here

Shaun Jarvis defiantly has no trust issues with Josh Garwood jumping over his head. Shaun is just over 6ft or 187cm tall and that’s a lot of height that Josh has got.

Coolgardie Day celebrations skatepark competition

Freestyle Now headed east from Perth out to Coolgardie in the Western Australian goldfields to host a small skatepark competition as part of the Coolgardie Day celebrations. Coolgardie Day is the celebration of the discovery of gold in Coolgardie in September 1892. There were lots of festival attractions on the day like amusement riders and stalls and displays of rock drilling and all things gold mining. Freestyle Now hosted a skatepark coaching session in the morning followed by a small fun skatepark competition in the afternoon. Thanks to the Coolgardie day celebrations for having Freestyle Now attend Coolgardie and host a competition on the new Coolgardie skatepark. It’s a fun skatepark so be sure to stop in there if you are travelling out that way.
Our next skatepark competition is on the 27th October at the new Banksia Grove skatepark, hope to see you there.
